Hi all.

I was wondering...

How hard would it be for me to move to Australia? I have family over there too. But am planning to move out of SA to Australia in a few years time.

Any ideas?

Thank you? :)

commit a crime ¬_¬

errm, actually quite hard. a family i know moved over there, they are friends of my parents, i think they lived there for like ,i can't remember, a couple years, 5 years? they had a house bought and paid for, they were a part of the community, i'm not sure if they worked or were retired out there, i think the later. but their son frequently visited them but i think worked abroad. anyway, at some point they were essentially just thrown out of the country because they weren't allowed to stay anymore. which seems somewhat ridiculous considering they had pumped money into the economy through spending their money, buying the house.paying taxes and had been their so long.

maybe it was there son who made jokes about the guys in the airport being criminals when he got there, apparently they aren't fond of the jokes, and they hear them all the time.

Having family over there could only help you i would assume. i think year, check out the aussie government webpages regarding immigration. sure there will be advice/guide sites findable on google too.

I've heard omething about that. However if I have an Uncle there who is willing to support me, would it help in anyway?

Yeah it helps, but you still need enough "points" to get in. You get them from your age, whether you've done a degree and worked in that profession for 3 or more years or something. And a bunch of other things.

I have an uncle there who is willing to support me too, but still kinda fall short of the points AFAIK.

Check out those links, or google emmigration to Australia points or something.

Wow, I didn't help at all there did I? Useless post ***...

You actually did help, so not a useless post.

Thank you very much. I will have a look at it now. I don't want to go there now. Only want to go there in 2015 or so. ;)

Lol, when I was out there in the summer, my uncle kept asking me about moving out there - but where he lives is VERY slow, very chilled and it really feels like 'settling down'. I don't want to settle down at my early 20s, lol.

Points system is irrelevant if you have sponsorship from an employer in Aus.

457 Visa is what i am on. But, you need to have skills in an area where there is a regionlised shortage. Darwin is pretty easy as nobody in the rest of Australia seems to want to move here. Other population centres are a little harder from what i understand.
The company i work for has recruited from the UK and SA in previous years. The
The 457 Visa is valid for upto 4 years but you can apply for permanent residency after just 2, meaning you can stay indefinitely.
Its just a case of passing a medical, being under 45, proving you have the skills in the area required (certificates etc) and a Police criminal history check. The whole process should take about 3 months or so.
The hard bit if getting the job offer in the first place.

marry someone there, then divorce them

one of my friends married a girl to keep her in his country, ended up staying together

So which areas are in the 'required' skills there? A medical, you mean not being sick or something?
Why 45, what has age got to do with it? :)

Thanks :D

A medical being a medical checkup to make sure you're not riddled with diseases, lol. A more extensive checkup - blood tests, fitness tests etc I should imagine.

They're also strict on age, they like young people there, people who can make a bunch of little Aussies.
