Turned 30 this year and my gaming habits have certainly changed over the years.
I started off with the Amiga and playing the various generations of consoles, I think I was fairly casual at that stage and being young I certainly could only afford new games every now and then and at Xmas.
It was when I got into PC Gaming into my late teens & early twenties that I really started spending a hell of a lot of time playing games. Though I'd say how that differs from now is that I spent a long time playing the same games, notably Unreal Tournament. I also dabbled with a couple of MMORPGs while I was at uni, they are complete life suckers and I will never touch one of those ever again, total waste of time. That said, Planetside, which is more of a FPS was quite good, as that actually had a better feel to it because you are fighting over an entire world, rather than just winning a single map each round. I'd probably give the forthcoming sequel a go.
After finishing Uni and travelling I didn't really touch games for a long time and didn't really miss them much. When I broke up with my girlfriend I'd not played games in so long that it felt like the perfect excuse to get back into them and bought an Xbox 360. I reckon I've certainly had the best gaming experiences on it over the years, probably what is most fun about it is that I've played multiplayer games with close friends, not so much anymore, but I've had some memorable times on Left 4 Dead.
Lately I've been finding myself playing games less and less. I think I've reached the stage now where I realise what a waste of time they can be and there are often other things I could be doing. I'm still trying to work my way through Skyrim and I've now started looking at games like it as a bit of a chore. I commend how much the Developers have put into such a game, but its just too long and life sucking.
So in future, I think I see myself only really playing games that aren't going to take up to much time.
