After 17khz my hearing drops off and I can just about hear up to the 21khz but it's so faint. 17khz seems about the most effortless I can hear. 15khz really bothers me! I'd say I can hear about normal but I used to be able to hear unusually high until I started to listen at high volumes with headphones.

On other test I seem to get between 17-21kz with again the 19-21 range being really low to the point it might not even count!
I'm 28!

your turns :)

Up to 14kHz at the age of 20. :(

Although my hearing is rather good, just not at high frequency for some reason.

My wife who is 25 can hear clearly up to 21kHz the freak. She has really sensitive hearing! Sometimes I wish she got into headphones as she has some of the best ears I've seen in a person.

Does music generally reach those levels though? Seems after 16kHz I can barely hear anything - Though this isn't in a totally silent room. Perhaps 17-18 would be faintly audible if there was no ambient noise around. 31 btw.

I have very sensitive hearing in general though, can hear whispers across the room, that noise any car is making that nobody else seems to be able to hear. Perhaps it's sound isolation my ears are good at as opposed to higher frequency response?

Some people find the upper frequencies annoying a lot of music would depend on the recording but for me as long as I can hear from the deep bass to the lower to mid treble, I'm pretty happy. According to some sources there's information in music above 20kHz but unless you are a dog ya won't be rocking out to it!

I think we are all in a healthy range. I personally believe that hearing definition is more important to how high you can hear, My wife for example can have our TV above 11 which for me is too low, at 15-20 on the volume I get a more open sound with deep bass! same with music so for me I'm glad I don't hear as loud as her at those frequencies.

Maybe you have excessive ear wax!

:p

I can hear 18kHz and below easily. 19 is very very faint, I can hear something there, but it's practically non-existent to me. Anything above that, nothing.

I'm 27 years old by the way.

I'm weird it seems, I can't hear 14kHz but I can hear 15kHz.

Eh?

Definitely can't hear anything above 15kHz tho.

I'm 39.

Some people's speakers/headphones might not actually be producing >16KHz depending on the quality and configuration of your setup.

My hearing is a bit odd - I can still hear 19-20KHz at 34 though only just but some intermediate frequencies i.e. 17KHz have entirely gone - probably due to exposure to high levels of sound from a mixture of work and nights out.
