ok i start off with my h60 water cooler i then have two 3.5 fans feeding cool air through the rad then anougther drawing air from it see pics below

then i use a small fan to keep the north bridge and mem cool

and finaly i use 4x small fans to feed cool air into the gpu

then to top it all off it sits infront of an open window

Isn't this rather OCD? these aren't the days of Thunderbird.

No... it's physics...

The CPU can't physically be cooler than the ambient room temp unless you have some kind of refrigeration going on to drop the temp below ambient. And if you did you'd be running the risk of getting condensation all over the inside of your case and wrecking your computer.

You'd have to have a chilled water loop, or the like to get down to 8C.

I've just noticed he's said he's got it next to an open window, which would help getting the temps down with the cold air atm, but if it is really at 8C then it's a terrible idea due to the high risk of condensation and shorting out the PC.

Unless his room is 8C... as I said :p

I'm not talking bout that. I'm talking about all this extreme behaviour as if one is cooling a nuclear plant. It's a PC. It's not a 20 year old chip.

"its like living next door to manchester airport"

Ah, well in that case, yes I agree completely. It's complete overkill, and entirely unneeded.

3.5" fans? That's roughly 90mm, I was under the impression the H60 took 120mm fans.

Anyway it's silly, there's the risk of condensation, all the noise and for what? An extra 50mhz or so?

He has a Q6600 at 3.0ghz with stock volts afaik (see his other thread)
it does seem very low though.
@3.0ghz even under IBT, it would only be around 50.C, so its still well under max temp.
it does seem to be overkill.
i would rather sit in a warm room and have it at idle of 30.C and at least i would be warm, ;)
