How important are dust reduction systems

Well we've managed with DSLRs for years without self cleaning systems so it's far from vital but it's certainly a selling point and if it can be proven to work well then you'll see it extending across Canon's range as it's refreshed.
 
^^ Yup, basically. I hope it does work, because it is a good idea. Of course, other brands will soon follow if it's a success.
