How is famous grouse?

Grouse is all right and is considered to be one of the premium blends.

I tucked into some Balvennie Doublewood last night as recommended by Big Stan and others on these here forums - very very nice :)

Ardbeg is a great distillery, but it's produce are some of the most peaty you'll come accross. Lagavulin falls into the same catagory, big flavour, lots of peat, seaweed, iodine and medicine-like phenols.

Not whiskys for the faint hearted though....

The Balvenie Double Wood is very drinkable a good recomendation for anyone wanting a whisky with a little more flavour than the average Speyside.

Irish Whiskey, not found one I like yet. Each to there own I guess.

Famous grouse, A blend of The Macallan, Tamdhu, Glenglassaugh and Glengoyne and I guess there must be some grain alcohol in there aswell to make it a blend rather than a vatted malt? There are better drinks out there but at least you can mix it with coke without being crucified (not that mixing a whisky with coke is a good thing).

As for other blends there are some that can easily compete with some single malts, try TE BHEAG if you see it, YUM!.

If I wasn't so hung-over.......

Famous Grouse is a perfectly good cheap scotch for drinking with a mixer. I wouldn't have it without one, but I don't go for any whisky without mixers.

For how cheap it is it's fine. I much prefer it to Bells and Teachers.
