How is GSYNC compatible now? I'm looking for a new monitor

I remember it had issues when it launched, flickering and black screens. I'm finding it hard when looking for monitors to find a full fat GSYNC monitor. My ASUS PG278QR which I've had for four years has developed a green hue in the top left corner which is annoying me and with Black Friday coming up it's a good time to look for a replacement.

Any recommendations? looking around £500. 27" and 144Hz+ is a must, 1440p and GSYNC preferred.

No sense to pay Nvidia/Yakuza-Jen tax.
I guess it would be primarily for gaming?

With that old Asus being old lowest common denominator sRGBgamut (low end already when that monitor was released) would definitely demand upgrade on that.
While DCI-P3 is hyped lot, it's actually average in green/cyan extension to also AdobeRGB covering monitors.
MSI MAG274QRF-QD would be one of those truly wide gamut monitors giving very vibrant foliage/vegeration and sky/water colours.

But do you you have normalish room illumination, or prefer darkened room?
IPS requires normalish room illumination and for darkened room VA with its highest contrast of LCDs gives the best looking image.

How well G-Sync Compatible works depends entirely on the monitor - on my Philips 436M6 for instance other than the limited refresh range it has always worked without issue. Though I would rather have a proper G-Sync module as it still provides a better experience to VESA adaptive sync.

Ignore this post if you meant it has to be 27" and not that as a min

seems fine on my sd3422dwg [AMD FreeSync Premium Pro but Gsync Compatible] although reviews said it can go weird under 60fps
I got a 4090 and it's perfect if I run at 144fps or limit to 60, or anywhere in between/over 144, I've never limited to below 60 to see if it would go weird

34inch curved 144mhz 3440x1440 monitor @ 390 quid from dell (your bank account probably has discounts for dell you can activate in your online banking too, lloyds have 10% cashback until 17/12/2022 I'm guessing all banks have the same offers?)

Good monitor for the dark and seems fine in a light room too...
the best buy at the time unless I wanted to spend 800+

There is no specific reason for G-Sync any more. Freesync is almost as good and zero cost. Not even NVIDIA seem to be able to justify it or want to enhance it, which makes me think it's days are numbered. My last monitor was Freesync, I'm, currently using G-Sync but my next planned monitor is a Freesync. They seem interchangeable now, and both AMD and NVIDIA GPU's work with either monitor type. The only slight advantage is that G-Sync often works at a slightly lower fps. The monitor I am looking at, the G-Sync version will go down to 30fps, whereas the Freesync goes to 48fps, but in games I always tweak the settings to maintain more than 60fps anyway, so there really is no point in paying money for G-Sync. Not to mention that the G-Sync may have a fan.

I ordered the MSI MAG274QRF-QD and yes, it's good. No backlight bleed and I don't think I have IPS glow but sadly there is a dead or stuck pixel and a little above that is a cluster making a large looking dot. I've ran JScreen fix over it but hasn't done anything for it :(

My brother bought two of them as well and one has a dead/stuck pixel and the other one seems okay.

My replacement panel was delivered today and it's fine. No deal pixels and same as the last one no backlight bleed so very happy. I checked over my brothers two panels again and his left panel is the same with just one dead pixel centre left so he's not bothered with it but the right side panel has a big cluster bottom right and it's worse than the one I sent back so he's sending that one back too.

I have the MAG274QRF non QD model and I find it just about passable. It has some very clear issues with dark green transitions. I see dark/black smearing behind dark green grass when panning the view from left to right, same goes for the leafs on trees if they are dark enough like in 7 Days to Die. Its very annoying.

I got my MAG274QRF-QD late yesterday so didn't get chance to use it till today. However, looks like there is a stuck pixel, it only shows on white background though. Now, do I send it back or keep and try to ignore it?

Yep I get that exact same thing with a VA monitor in 7 days to die, weird thing is my lg ips 55 inch 120hz tv I get none at all, no smearing and no jerky / stuttery movement at lower fps that I do get with my LG monitor when panning the mouse around. Sucks really.

I wouldn’t ignore it, get one with 0 issues. You paid for it.
