Can't do it blindfolded but if I can see what I'm doing then I can solve the Rubik's cube... but it usually takes me a couple of minutes.

As said before, he looks at it prior to being blindfolded so that he can ascertain the starting position. From then it's memory/logic.

I pick one up now and dont know where to start.

yeah, they get 5 secs i think to look at it (if its a competition solve), then they figure out the algorithms they need, blind fold goes on and they just perform the algorithms
