How is my build looking?

But it wasn't the EVO version, it is the PRO Version. And please stop lying about not noticing a difference. The difference is between the earth and the sky :D

The SATA SSDs are severe and very bad compromise.

No problem. Just wanna tell you that on my computers I have NO ordinary SATA SSDs.
I was like you considering the SSDs too expensive and not worth it to buy them.
But now, when NVMe PCIe SSDs are present, the picture is completely different and I'd use such on all my devices.

;)

You going to provide a review or other proof that it performs much better at loading games/windows ? Or is this just another one of your wild statements ?

from what you've listed, i'm assuming your budget is around £1000ish?

this is probably what i'd get for the budget:
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,075.89 (includes shipping: £0.00)

ryzen 1600 + 16gb ram
also a 1070 - this is on offer WITH free shipping too, so you put that £15-25, otherwise spent on shipping, into the budget #win
the 1070 will run rings around a 1060/580

Think the only thing I noticed a difference was loading 3D Mark between sata 3 and NVMe :)
i'll bite.

outside of a select few programs/users that trash the drive (hdd/ssd) the gains are minimal and the extra £££ is better used somewhere else in the system.
or, as we all well know @4K8KW10 is a troll (yet) again... :D

I've already purchased, the same RAM, B350 Gaming 3, Seasonic Focus 550w PSU and 500gb 850 Evo...... Now I'm low on funds until next week.

I was just going to go with a 1060/580 as I'll only be running 1080p/60hz monitors. Would I be better served with a 1070?

Edit: Although that seems a good price for a 1070. Being honest, I just don't like the colour or look of it :D

it'll last longer, as games get more demanding on hardware, the 1060/580 will run out of steam sooner.
just depends when you next intend to upgrade, really.

well all you'll be seeing is the side of the graphics card when it's mounted in a case (assuming that the case is a standard tower) - so all you'll see is the white + the asus logo :p

Personally get 580 with 75hz freesync screen. Heck there's the 1440p 32" VA 75hz panel going for £200!!!! Yes, 580 can't power all games at medium 1440p and just below 60hz but screen will last a good while :)
And so cheap !

Gtx 1070 for 1080p 60hz would be a bit of a waste, last longer but along comes gtx 1160 or what ever it's called for £100-150 cheaper and more powerful and your left a bit bitter .

Doubt I will upgrade for a couple of years at least. I'm a fussy bugger so a white GPU isn't going to happen for this build :D Also would like to stick to Gigabyte for UK RMA and support on forum.

Like I said in OP, I am pretty much building a PC for iRacing so going for a triple 24" monitor setup. Budget is only going to allow for 3x 1080p 60hz.

From what I have read 1060/580 should be enough?

not quite. to put it in pixel terms, 3x1080p = 6.2Mpix (equivalent 1440p = 3.6Mpix, 4k = 8.3Mpix)
you'll need a lot more than a 1060/580 to drive that at a smooth 60hz.
the only gpu that can do that right now at ultra settings (that's not cray cray pricing - but even then it's still pretty dear) is a 1080ti

Thank you for your input, it really is appreciated. Must say, this forum is great!

Maybe I should have a re think on going x3 monitors. Single monitor, 1060/580 for now and wait for next gen GPU's and when I have a bit more spare cash. Single monitor would probably keep the wife quiet also :D

Ultra wide !!!!!!! 1440p or 1080p - have your cake and eat it... But at some extra cost for Nvidia
