Need a graphics card with dual DVI, also does this have wireless?

I already have a dvd drive and monitor

Is this as much as you can spend??

It looks fine, though I will consider 7600GT over the 1650pro in that price range, better if you can stretch for 1950pro / 7900GS.

No it doesn't have wireless so you need to get a separate PCI wireless card.

i'd suggest going for a 7600gt instead. it's quite a bit faster for gaming.... :)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-019-BG

ok it's 6quid odd more expensive but it's well worth it. :D

as for wireless, some motherboards have it builtin. the one you have chose does not so you'll need a wireless adapter - either a pci card or usb dongle. as for which one you should go for, i have no idea... :o

edit: too slow... :p

Just to get the obvious out the way, have you thought about going Intel for a Core 2 Duo CPU? It is faster and can usually overclock better plus doesn't cost that much more. :)

How about...
  • Antec NSK4400 Mini Tower Case - 380W SmartPower PSU £42.99
  • Logitech Cordless Desktop S 510 - Black/Silver £29.99
  • Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £109.99
  • Gigabyte GA_965P_S3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £71.99
  • OcUK 1GB (2x512MB) PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit £61.99
  • BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £74.99 - better than ATI's X16xx range, see here
  • Hitachi Deskstar 7K160 NCQ 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (0A32728) £31.99
  • Sub Total : £423.93
  • Shipping : £10.95
  • Vat : £76.10

That will (seriously) outperform the above (compare here)

As much as I would like to get a conroe, it would be serious overkill for me. Plus its more the motherboard that puts up the price rather then the processor

I doubt I will do much gaming - just want something that is reliable. I think the 4200X2 I have picked is overkill too but its on this week only!

Thinking I will order in th next week or two. Could even downgrade the procesor for a better motherboard. One with wireless perhaps?

Any other ideas?

Go conroe,

Its better and faster.Uses less power.Runs cooler.Clocks better.

I could go on and on....

If you have money to waste then get AM2

Conroe mobos can be had for 60.

So your mobo arguement holds no water.

Also the 7600 GT is better than the x1650 pro

Have to agree with Easyrider there!

All we are saying is that if your willing to spend that amount on AM2 then its wiser/better/etc to go C2D. If both are overkill, then why not save your money & go single-core, maybe AMD Athlon 64 3500+ :)

If adamant to get the X2 4200+, don't forget a HSF! Its an OEM chip & comes with none. Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro is good ;)

Better go with a separate wireless PCI card.

Is that the best 939 motherbaord and would AM2 be better? Wont be upgrading for a while and that is soo cheap. Am I right in guessing that there istn a performance increase in getting AM2 over 939?

2nd one is more of what I want to spend since I have no need for C2D speeds. Currently using a 4 year old 1.5ghz PIII laptop so anything is gonna be a huge diff, can it be bettered?

The cheap one won't work, you need DDR Ram not DDR2. You also need a CPU cooler as the CPU is OEM so won't come with one. :)

If you just want a basic upgrade then it may make more sense to look at the Members Market for a secondhand PC. :)

skt939 uses DDR not DDR2 so you need PC3200 RAM.

You are right in that AM2 does not offer much performance increae, if at all, over skt939. But for the same price going AM2 is a wise choice as it will support future AM2+ CPUs too, including the next gen AMD K8L that is coming out later this year.

For the same price you can get:

Asus M2V-TVM VIA K8M890 Micro ATX (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
£34.99
(£41.11)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2.00GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail
£78.99
(£92.81)

And have a nice dual core setup.
