How liberating, I think

I deleted mine a while back, I could walk past people in the street that were on my friends list and they would not speak but are happy to be on your friends list. Sad really.

I did notice that too and considered it to be quite strange, if and when I do go back to it I will be seriously cutting down my friends list, I think the theme for my friends list would be, wedding guest list

It's not really strange some people just love having 500 people in the friend list.

Makes them feel wanted cause their sad.

I seem to log in daily but never really put up anything myself. I regularly cull my friends list but still don't want to change my status as only 10% or so would 'get' anything I set it to.

Its great for contacting old friends and sharing pics though along with the odd perv. ;)

The only thing that riles about it now is people who post my picture on Facebook from group shots, I'm not on Facebook by choice. That does not mean it's still OK to post my picture up on there. :(

But if its a group shot, say you were at a party etc.. you can't honestly expect people to go through all the 50 or so photos they might upload of the event etc.. in order to make sure you're not in any group shots...

Why not read a thread properly before posting?

I did. You seem to be saying that you don't use it much so you are considering deleting it. Why not just keep it and hardly use it? Unless you can't stop yourself making the odd sarcastic comment? (that's my problem :D )

I have friends that don't ever come on line and people stop posting stuff on their wall after they stop replying. No one is going to consider you rude or anything and will just assume you don't log in that often so I don't see that as a problem.

I understand what you are saying and I agree, but I did state why on the first page when someone else had a similar question

One thing I find about having a debate on here and this isnt directed at anyone in particular but I find people answer a topic without reading the thread and it really really does my head in when I have to repeat myself I find it so ignorant that people dont read it properly but feel the need to answer anyway!

ok, fair enough. however it is quite common for people to repeat others opinions on most forums, otherwise threads would only be like 3 posts long. It might be annoying but I think you are going to have to get used to it. :)

Why not just block the annoying girl?

I have blocked all invites to join stupid games or groups, I log on occasionally just to stalk... I mean see what people are doing.

Noted. Will wear a mask out of an evening, seems to be the only way to stop my picture ending up on Facebook. :( It's not I don't consent my picture being taken, or posted on a site. Just more the fact it's on Facebook specifically.
What is the problem with it being on Facebook? What's the difference between that and another site, say Flickr?

I don't understand people who have heaps and heaps of friends on it that they clearly never speak to. I find myself refusing requests multiple times of the week as I have no interest in ever speaking to that person. I sometimes ask my friend who someone is (after I've been stalking a bit) and they'll reply "Oh, just someone from Primary school" or "Someone that works in the Canteen at work". These 'nonfriendfriends' will just clutter my wall with nonsensical rubbish. Accordingly, I hide a lot of people that do that but that I sometimes want to speak to.

I think the 'Events' feature is probably the main thing that it has going for it. It is far easier to create an event and then invite the people you want too from your Facebook friends than phone or text everyone individually.

Yes I agree with you on that but thats not what I meant, like the quote below, someone has already asked and I answered, then you asked again, now this chap. I have already explained why, rather than a point I am talking about a specific question that has been answered by the OP in this case me

The girl was just a contributing factor, the main reason, and I repeat. I just want to see what life is like without it for a couple of weeks

I can imagine that it can be a liberating feeling if it took up a lot of time. I find it a useful toll to keep in touch with people although I log on an average of once a week for about 10minutes. Never wrote on anyone's wall or done any status updates.

People who "take a stand" against Facebook are just as annoying as the vacuous air-heads who post constant updates of their every breath.
