How likely is it that the 9800GX2 will be out AFTER 7th April?

I really hope it doesn't. I bought an EVGA 8800GTS 512MB on January 7th (thinking it would be WELL within the release of the 9800GX2 (was Feb at the time)) with the intention of using EVGA's step up program to get the 9800GX2 when it was out.

Now I find myself £230 out of pocket (I had an 8800GTS 320MB previously).

I suppose I got a good bit of a performance boost out of the 512MB anyway (Couldn't run COD4 at 1680 x 1050 in medium, now I can run it 1680 x 1050 all high, full AA etc at 100FPS).

It is apparently out in March sometime, which i think it will, so you should be good to go, barring any last minute ****-ups on Nvidia's end.

The 9800 GX2 is launched in March (or the whole 9 series is), as its either at CeBit or just after CeBit they get launched, as they being shown there.

Nvidia has informed their partners that the launch date for GeForce 9800 GX2 has been pushed back to March 11th but most probably you can still see the cards during CeBIT. However, Nvidia hasn't provide partners with working cards yet and the final clock speeds have yet to be determined. In the meanwhile, Nvidia has asked the card partners to put up a label on their product boxes to address concerns about end users plugging in the 8-pin connector for motherboard into the 8-pin PCIe power connector on the 9800GX2 card.

I've given up on the 9800GX2 personally - I've grabbed a 8800GT 512Mb for £126 (inc. VAT and delivery) and once the new GX2/GTX comes out I plan to get another GT when they are cheaper and SLI em - should keep me going until the generation after comes along.

There really needs to be a thread where all the ridiculous code names of the various NVIDIA cards are explained. Is the card released in March a true 'new' series of cards or one of those series that basically replaces an existing line at a lower price?

Considering PCIe 2.0 gives it 150 Watts ontop of the 6 pin, sure I find it totally ridiculous, that said it might only need both when its in a old PCe x16 1.0/1.1 slot. Not sure.

The corsair HX620 has 2 of the eight pin cables, they are actually 6 pin with a 2 pin added to it so allows you to run either 6 or 8 pin.

Also quite handy with respect to accidentally using the motherboard 8 pin cable, as that plug is 2 four pin plugs put together.

Hope that makes some sort of sense.

Its still an old 2006 8800, as its 2x 8800 GTS's slapped together. :)

My HX620 only has 2 x 6-pin connectors. Perhaps mine's an older revision?

Hmmm, that is strange, i can only guess that it must be an older revision, when did u purchase it? I got mine towards the back end of last year.
