How long are you prepared to wait?

Nintendo seem to be getting better at their European releases. I think they realised that they lost a lot of sales on the Gamecube/Game Boy Advance due to PAL conversions taking 6-12 months. I remember getting Advance Wars 2 in Canada about 7 months before it's UK release. I'd completed it by the time it came out over here. :)

Its been that way for quite a while, only this generation we are seeing two out of the three companies actually taking the European market as "serious".

It's suprising how many PS3's are still available here, i can walk into practicaly any electrical shop and pick one up, i can afford one but i have no interest untill the price drops and GT5/MGS are out.

It is not something that I am desperate to have, and will therefore wait as long as I have to. I won't buy one until there are enough games to justify yet another console, and the price is a lot lower. Perhaps it would have been different if the PS3 had launched before the 360, but it is now my third priority since most games I'll probably want will be cross-platform and we already have a 360.

I'll wait until it's clear who the winner out of blu-ray and HD DVD is (don't quote me and say "blu-ray/hd dvd will of course" ;)).

So i'll only buy one if blu ray comes out more popular and depending on how much stand alone blu ray drives are.

No it's not just Sony, I think everyone barr MS is guilty of shafting Europe.
MS released an inferior version of the Xbox into Europe though, which unlike the NTSC versions didn't support HDTVs without 'illegal' modification. At least they rectified that with the 360 but still.

Hardly call it shafting though, there where very, very few HD enabled TV sets in the UK when the Xbox came out and practically nothing that normal people could afford to buy. Around the same time you could walk into any big electronics store in the US and buy them by the dozen.
Though it still doesnt make any sense as obviously a PAL Xbox can be HD enabled pretty easily so the hardware is there.

No way am I paying that kinda money for a new games console, it's crazy money. The only game that kinda interests me is the GT series that ultimately has been in decline since GT2 anyway. Nintendo consoles seem to come out with more inovative games anyway so I'll just keep playing my housemates Wii.

Having never played a GT myself, what makes it a must buy for the PS consoles?

I will wait until GT5 comes out, it's currently the only PS3 game I have any interest in. The second it's out I'll buy a PS3.

Until Gran Turismo 5 is out, the PS3 has nothing to offer me. Even then it will have to be a significant improvement on GT4. I found GT4 much less fun than GT3, after playing PGR2 on Xbox live.

i dont mind waiting for ps3,i've got a 360 ps2 psp ds gc and gba,so got plenty on my plate to keep me going
motorstorm oblivion and warhawk are the games i want on launch

I guess GT 1 & 2 where the dadies of that kinda customize your car and race it play style. The game physics where great fun as well, you could really perfect driving even though it still had a bit of an arcady feel.

GT3 was all right, just more tracks n cars with almost identical physics but the computer AI is totally retarded. Again GT4 was just more long tracks, more cars and still the same completely useless AI so basically you never have any good competition.

IMO 1 & 2 where about the perfect length to completing, 3 & 4 brought in races that took ages to complete and didn't add anything to the game.

But they NEED to fix the AI for GT5 or it will just be another laughing stock in the car racing world.

Forenza looks good but it just seems a copy of GT really :p

You do realise oblivion has been out since March on the 360 right?

I won't need to pick up a PS3 until they make Guitar Hero for it, and that is only if it is more cost effective (which seems improbable) than getting a version for the 360, as i already have two wired guitars for PS2.

I'll maybe get one when GT5 comes out. Although as someone who bought a PSP expecting GT Mobile, this time I'll wait until its out on the shelf before I take the plunge, so probably about 2009. Even then, it depends how Forza 2 turns out. For me Forza didnt quite topple the GT series but lets see how round 2 goes. There will also be PGR4 before GT5 I shoudl think.

I'm certainly not excited by the PS3 in the way I was with the PS2, Xbox, 360 etc. Normally I'd be scouring ebay looing for excuses to by the latest console, but I just cant summon up the enthusiasm! The 360 has more than enough great games to occupy my limited gaming time at the moment.
