How long before a good WC CPU Block

There is loads of great blocks around...

Spend the cash and you cant really go wrong.. EK/Swiftech are the ones to go for.

Ever since Cathar mass marketed the Storm series of blocks through Swiftech, it's been very difficult to buy a rubbish CPU block.

predates the Storm. The first proper impingement block was the Little River White Water which was then subsequently mass-rpoduced by D-Tek. That was the big step forward not the Storm. Arguably the LRWW and the Storm were actually cul-de-sac as no block today uses that exact method although all rely on a degree of impingement to create turbulence.

Whatever, even the cheaper blocks like the XSPC ones are more than adequate with very little temperature differences at the block level today.

The Little River White Water was the block that shifted the paradigm, however there were a number of blocks that were released since that point that were, quite simply, nowhere near as good (DangerDen Maze 4, Swiftech MC5000 or whatever it was called to name but a few). Since Cathar sold the Storm design to Swiftech, nobody has really made a rubbish block. I'm sure Thermaltake hae tried, but there really aren't any excuses nowadays.

Nice to see you back on here, MikeTimbers - I haven't seen you round here for a while. :)

I had to laugh at that. :D

I think he means for 1366 though. Plenty of adapters available now anyway. For other cpu's i am still using my 3 year old Aquaextreme MP-05 Pro Limited Edtion. It's seen me through many upgrades and still going strong.

Maybe he's meaning an i7 block, rather than a general purpose one?

Sorry Guys I did mean for the I7.

I'm gonna go the full hog, if I think a good block will make it worth the extra 400 quid. As well as a I7 block , I have enough to look beyond.

Is there a mach3 or Vapourchill with the I7 in mind. ?

Then I think the I7 extreme would be worth the extra.

Your thoughts guys. appreciated as usual

I suppose but that's because they were already developed and needed to be sold.

I try but there's this annoying thing called real life that sometimes gets in the way of the Interweb.
