How long before a limit is put in place?

I propose mandatory culling. Start with the elderly, anyone above 80 is being life greedy and so should be culled. Then people who vote Tory, these people are too selfish to provide a positive benefit to our society. Then people who think Ant and Dec are entertaining, these people offer nothing to the advancement of our culture.

I'm really talking in terms of years here, maybe decades. It's quite clear that the population is climbing and climbing, and with advances in medicine there are only so many resources and so much space to go round.

It actually worked in China [and they've now increased the limit from 1 to 2]. How long do you think before we see it in the UK?

I don't think "never" is a realistic answer. Given the growth as it is, the limit will have to be put in place at some point.

I also don't think "well, people are dying too" is a realistic argument since people are living longer now more than ever and medicine has come up with better and better ways to keep people alive.

To your question, i'm not sure what the actual growth statistics are with specific reference to social bands. I believe this to be the big issue here (pun unintended).

Whilst certain media sources frequently cite that we are receiving shedloads of migrant 'workers' (and their assumed non-working spouses/kids), you must also bear in mind several pertinent considerations (which may hold truth):

1. Middle Class families typically can only afford how many children?
(it is assumed these children will be successful and attain jobs themselves)

2. Working Class and Dole/JSA Class typically fire out babies like they had their genes spliced with Rabbits - these create a glut of low/no-aspiration children who stand a chance of maturing into their parents producing yet more of their mentality.

End result if these statements hold truth is that society is composed of a bottom-heavy jobless culture where the few earners are subsidising the addict-lifestyles of those beneath them, who may also burgle and target the earners for some poor value drilled in them at birth about 'born into money'.

This is an easy to manipulate culture as they are engrossed by the media and believe everything told at face value. You'd probably find that certain Political Parties would get in power during this sort of 'macro-cultural revolution' - Labour at a minimum (promising increased benefits etc).

So to prevent a bottom-heavy class culture, how do you enforce this? state-supported abortions? infanticide? No chance.

It is to target the two big areas - Babies for Benefits and Birth Control/Sexual Education.

Human Rights are the biggest hurdle to either of these.

I would be interested to know what the average child/family ratio is as on average I would be surprised if it is more than 2-3 these days.

For which social class? As I said above, I believe the Middle Class will have less, whilst the Lower Class(es) will have far more.

^ This is important to distinguish between Classes, as you would assume Middle Class children to grow up with correct values/ethics and go on to contribute to society. Whereas i'd be interested to note the % of the Lower Classes within the same criteria.

There will be war soon, that will cull the population.

This.

Far more sensible to take a responsible attitude to birth control.

Increased population will cause numerous serious issues, food, housing, employment, healthcare.

Yellowstone eruption should easily wipe out a few billion people. Which from memory, taking an average both are overdue.

The lava pool below yellowstone has just recently been found to be much larger than previously thought, would definitely affect the whole planet if it went up.

Who needs an epidemic :p A nice big asteroid or Yellowstone eruption should easily wipe out a few billion people. Which from memory, taking an average both are overdue.

God damn, you're old!

The Siberian Traps were the most prevalent I believe?

An awesome little site of World-End Scenarios (hasn't been updated for a while, so one or two 'facts' are not true any more).

100 couples on an island, battle royale.
