How long before a limit is put in place?

like a perverse version of the HUnger Games, just call it the breeding games and the last couple left standing earnt eh right to have 1 child which must have course be conceived directly after the fighting has finished and broadcast live around the world to show that victory does indeed have its rewards............

Is it available in HD?

We don't need to stop people having babies as out population is ageing, we need to do the opposite! We will end up like japan otherwise

I propose mandatory culling. Start with the elderly, anyone above 80 is being life greedy and so should be culled. Then people who vote Tory, these people are too selfish to provide a positive benefit to our society. Then people who think Ant and Dec are entertaining, these people offer nothing to the advancement of our culture.

:D

you missed out bieber fans lol

Who's going to pay all the pensions of the old people if we introduce a cap?

People aren't retiring at 65 and popping their clogs a few years down the line. People are much healthier and many people can continue to work into their late 60s early 70s but when they do retire they are living much longer.

Reason why the population is growing is simply because people are living longer, not that the majority of the population are knocking kids out like rabbits.

But mu grandad is 87 today:mad:

This whole thread is based on so many flawed assumptions. We have already reached peak childbirth. The population will level off at around 10bn or so.

Interesting but that seems to be focused purely on birthrate and doesn't cover things like better medicine increasing life expectancy, no world wars, better technology that prevents the deaths of natural disasters etc.

Also the prediction is based on a flawed assumption itself which is admitted at the end. The world's poorest people have to be lifted out of poverty and be given access to family planning. That's certainly no given, world poverty doesn't seem to be on the wain.

Was about to post this till I saw youd already done it.

Worth a watch. There was a 1 hour documentary on the bbc by him a few months back also re population/peak childbirth and a few other interesting global stats.

The bbc doc coverrs this, and it felt implied that the trend regarding improvements in tech/medicine (historical trend) and poverty lifting/familly planning was considered irrc, but it's all pretty vague in my memroy now. In that presentation pop leveling was around 11bn.

Does the OP really think we need less people to have babies. The Japanese are at risk of dying out because people are having fewer babies by 2060 the population will have shrunk 40% at current birth rates! that's insane!

Using an example of a very small minority of families that have loads of kids is just stupid, the statistics suggest that UK families are having fewer children and our population is ageing!

They're having fewer children for various reasons, the biggest one being affordability. I earn 3 times the national average yet can only see myself affording 1, maybe, MAYBE 2 kids.

Also there's doomsday scenarios involving lack of male fertility too :p
