How long can a car last without an alternator?

As title, my fanbelt has come off (to be replaced tomorrow) and I REALLY need to get somewhere, its only a mile or so.

Any ideas? How long would my battery last?

edit: It's on a 205GTi by the way, i'll be cutting down on everything electric..
 
Funnily enough I had to do that yesterday on the wives car, alternator failed. A newish saxo, everything switched off, nearly 14 miles before it stopped. Tiny 34AH bat though.
