I bought mine last year brand new 10' plate a Honda Hornet. For the last 3 months ive been eyeing up the new Honda CrossRunner, it cost about 9k. No intentions of buying it just yet i asked how much i would get for my bike and he said about 3k. I was a bit suprised as i only had it last year off them and its only done 5500miles. So ive decided to keep the bike for quite a few years now until i save up enough to buy it myself.

Anyway how long do you keep your bikes for?
My uncle bought a brand new speed triple back in 2007 and he looks after it and wont ride in wet/rain/winter and is forever cleaning it. It still looks brand new and im sure he will keep it for quite a few years yet. His last bike he kept for nearly 10 years and that still looked like new.
Ill probably keep mine for about 5 years till the new bike itch comes too much:p

I have had 2 Ducati 748's, first was binned after 3 months after a really bad low side. Second I hve had just over 2 years and I have just decided to upgrade to a 848 Evo.

If I had the money, I would keep my current 748 and have it fully rebuilt with everything slightly old replaced :P

I've got a 1979 Moto Guzzi LeMans Mk11 that i bought new for £2250, so that's 32 years me thinks :D
Also got a 2008 Ducati 1098s................................so it's just a mere nipper at the moment :D

I change bikes every couple of years. I just love the different types of bikes; the way they handle; the power delivery; the way they look. Had my CB1300 for a year, since changing from my Fireblade, but already I'm thinking of changing again. After riding my dads multistrada S I've decided I just have to have a big V twin. Not sure which one I'll get mind. I doubt I'll be able to afford a 1198 or 1098. I'll maybe look at a 999. Need to do some research and have a think over the winter.

I don't commute on bikes anymore so comfort and running costs aren't as important as they use to be when I was travelling 500 miles a week.

I've only been riding 2 years and I'm onto my 4th and 5th bike.

First bike was a CBR125R which was ride around on while I had my CBT and to see if I liked it. Second was an SV650 which everyone recommended as a first "big bike" but to be honest I never really liked it. Next was the ZX6R which I still have. I also bought a GS500 to use as a Winter bike but it was a shed so I only kept it for a few weeks and now I've got an ER5 as a Winter bike and it's great. Just spent yesterday Winterising it (oil change, ACF50 etc)

I think I'll probably keep the ZX6R and the ER5 for a while yet, both do exactly what I need so not got any reason to change.

I'll keep them till they go, like get stolen, or I bin it really badly. Only on my 2nd bike after nearly 5 years of biking. Had my Bandit for around 14 months, and that got stolen. I then got my current bike, the GSXR, and that's sat in my garage back in the UK. When I get back from Afghan, I'm getting a new S1000RR, and track biking my GSXR, can't see myself getting rid of the S1000RR for a long time. But we'll see.

Had the F800 almost a year. Took a K1300S out recently so the time of the F800 will soon be over! I did intend to keep it rather longer but oh well!

Been riding for 4 years now, kept the first bike (Z1000) for almost 3 years, had the current one (Street Triple R) for 1 year. I'm planning to add to the collection rather than replace from now on. :)

Bought an RF6 3 years ago as my first bike, sold that a few months ago. Id done no end of work on it and it looked real tidy, just got bored of 600cc's!

Got a 94 GSXR 1100 now and ill probably keep that for a few years too, got a few plans for that but ill keep it standard until ive got my project bike on the road.

Bought a DR350 in April this year, its a kick start and things seem to be ok with it but it can be a pain, going to see how off roading goes this winter, if its a nightmare ill swap it for an electric strat. Plan on keeping it for years!!

Also got the turbo project bike which I dont think ill ever sell, it'll just get chopped and changed to suit!

In short, I like oldskool and I keep for years!!

:D

I like the offroading idea! Are there any online communities concerned with the greenlaning lark do you know?

I've had the RSV since early 2004. Can't see me ever getting rid of it for a multitude of reasons. I hardly get the chance to ride the thing nowadays because of work, kids and a million other crappy reasons but I'm not selling it as I know I'd miss it like mad if it goes and I'm not likely to ever be sat on 2 wheels again if I did actually let it go.

Still makes me grin like a maniac every time I ride it. :D

Im sure there's plenty, I know theres one kent way but they're more adventure bikes. Not really looked around my local area yet, will get a winter in to improve my noob skills before I go out with a proper group.
