Begin with your current car, how long you've had it, when you intend to sell

Then the car you've kept for the least amount of time and why

Also include how many you've had in how many years of driving if your E-Peni wishes to do so

I've had my current car for coming up to four months, its probably going to go within a year of ownership as I have given myself a bit of mission, I want to save up and pay the reminder of what I owe on it before summer next year and then sell it, at that point i'm not exactly sure what i'll do but I have a few ideas

Car kept for the least amount of time was a Nissan 200SX S14A, no idea why I bought it, I test driven it in the dry with the salesman so it was difficult to get a feel for it, I then hated the thing within a month and sold it within 3 months

Lost count of how many cars i've had, my mates think i'm a weirdo I have this issue where I pick something I dont like about the car and let it irritate me to the point where i'm writing out the advert for it. I call it car paranoia.

Mondeo - owned for 2 and a half years - not sure when I intend to get rid as I have no idea what I want to replace it with.

My first car was my Vauxhall Astra which I had for a year and one month.

My 2 cars since I learnt to drive.

I've had my VXR 2 years now and its getting to a point where I want a final man points car before I have to settle down. So I'll be getting a new car within the next few weeks when works sorts it out.

late 05 E61 owned since December will probably keep for another 18 months or so

previous nissan navara 5 years

previous escort 4 years

previous the tube

Owned my current car for almost 4 years, over the past year I’ve been actively looking for and test-driving replacements, two of which I’m interested in and could be worthy of buying, the others are far too much of a compromise, I expect to replace my current car around June next year.

I like to keep my cars for 3 - 5 years but i crashed my first car so only had that 2 years.

Current car - Owned for just over three years, aim to swap it in about 2 years time (although I am getting itchy feet for something new).

Least amount of time - 306 1.4 owned for 2 years 11 months

Longest time - Hyundai Pony - Owned for 4 1/2 years.

Been driving for just coming up to 11 years and those are the only 3 cars I've owned.

Current e36 328i, bought as a stop gap, 18months later, I still have it!

Whilst I am looking for a replacement, the e36 has not given me any reason to ditch it - yet!

Owned the mx5 about 3 years now I think. The 'problem' is that I think I'd have to spend a lot more money to find something as fun. So I think I'll just drive it till the wheels fall off (and then put them back on again).

330d - had it over 2 years now! Longest that I have kept a car for myself. Will get rid as soon as i can be bothered.

Shortest - Old metro that I bought, drove about 70 miles (over 2 days) and it died. Was worth about £3, so left it where it died

Generally I keep em about 2.5-3 year. A Focus ST170 was the longest at five years but mainly 'cos I was paying of debts and previos loan of a missspent youth.

The shortest the the last car, had the Civic Type-R GT for exactly one year before I change it.

Current: Punto Grande Sporting 1.9d - share with gf - 5 months

Shortest: Fabia vRS - 6 months, sold as I was in a fair amount of debt, decided enough was enough and started to sort myself out.

Longest: Mondeo ST24 - 3 years - Only sold as it failed on MOT and just was not worth paying to put it through - got £500 for it!

Worst Decision: Selling my Fiesta Zetec-S for the Fabia after 2 years of fantastic ownership!

Thinks Back:

Currently had my Octavia vRS for just over 2yrs.
Bought it at 18 months old and potentially looking to change it next year when I've had it for 3yrs.

Before that I had my Peugeot 307 for 4 long years :)

Before that I had my Renault Megane for 4 quite enjoyable years.

Before that I had my Mk2. Golf for 2 years.

First car, my Mk1. Golf for about 18 months.

Plan on keeping mine for years, but if i need to free some cash for a house say, it might have to go.

Had the CTR for almost 2 years.

Everyone keeps their cars for years! I get bored after 6 months and thats with a good car

I think i'm pretty much addicted to the excitement of buying and selling them plus the car paranoia thing

In my eyes you've made the choice and purchased a car, if thats the wrong choice you should live with it because you won't make the mistake twice, it's self discipline at the end of the day.

Depends on the car. Only cars I have owned for more than a year are my 205 GTI, the Manta, and my Mondeo. Anything else lasted less than a year normally. Shortest was my Supra which I blew up on the drive home from buying it.

I like that view, I wish I could take it onboard but I get bored and any minor things that irritate me about a car my mind turns to major things

I do have a thing for the Civic Type-R FN2 and if possible i'd like to get myself into the situation to be able to consider buying one next year

156 GTA for 8 months (yes...nothings broken or blown up since then). Couple of things (1 car related, one not) about it might make me change before summer, doubt it though. Hell of a car.

Had a Leon FR for about 2 years before that, nice car but wanted something special

e36 323i for about a year iirc, pure stop-gap car, cost cutting exercise due to kids.

CTR, again, 1.5 years, pretty much sold it due to aformentioned imminent child. Still miss it.

206 GTi, around 4 years iirc.

Have had a few cars before that, but they were pretty much hand-me-downs of the Fiesta mk2 variety.

Like changing cars (in general), irrespective of life situation.

Don't, get a FD2 instead.
