Hello just wondering... A friend applied for a new contract with Three, he passed credit check online and it returned he had to pay a £100 desposit to secure his contract... he went to get his bank card etc to pay but the session timed out on the page, so he tried again it credit checked again and failed..

Will the first accepted credit check hold and go into a shop and pay etc? I heard it gets held for 14 days or something with Three.

£100 to secure a contract? Or £100 up front for a handset? If his credit score isn't in the gutter I'm not sure it matters

£100 to secure it because his credit is low, phone is free, the £100 is refundable after 6 months good payment, but he hasn't got the £100 right now wants to know if it will hold for a few days to recoup the readies, Three seem to not know some said yes some say no so not sure..

Perhaps a contract isn't for him at the moment. The ~£100 payg smart phone market has never been better imo. I have a Lumia 520 on Ovivio, which was £65 for the handset and £15 for the SIM. Costs approximately £0 a month for my usage. I have the money for a top end contract, but don't need/want one any more :p

The website likely will just be set to check every time so this won't be an issue. If it is all you'll get is a "we don't know what's going on right now, please call xxxx to finish this".

Agree and from my perspective, having had 12-24month contracts with a phone where the provider basically screwed me over I'm refusing to have a 'contract' which lasts longer than 30 days now, you can also get better monthly allowances too in most cases.

With phones like the moto g (my phone of choice) and lumia 520-625 there really isn't any need for contracts unless you must have the latest and greatest phone for the first 3-6 months of your contract....

He's had PAYG for a long time and wants to get a new phone/contract I've said about staying PAYG but he's insists he wants a new contract, he's contacted Three and they reckon it failed the second time because the first check passed and it needed £100 deposit and apparently it lasts for 15 days as pending, he's going for it I think.
