For you guys to be able to use your PC after you've clicked through the Windows XP log on screen and you first see the desktop load up?

I haven't got too much installed on this PC, and I regularly run checks for Spyware and such yet it takes my PC a good 30-40 seconds before I can click on a program or something and it will load.

Tbh my system downstairs, which is like 9 years old, loads up much faster.

How about your's?

About 20 seconds for me too, although that is mainly the antivirus starting up. My other PC without any antivirus takes about 10 seconds.

Can you put a list of what loads up at startup and what your antivirus is, it may help. :)

10ish seconds... no... well not even that surely :confused:
pretty instantanious (depending on what i actually click on straight away ;))

Anyone knwo a way to get rid of all the bubbles poppin up telling me my antivirus isnt on and the such?

I know there is a way, just dont know what it is...has inspired me to get mine down to 15 seconds at least lol

Yeah that is right.

Speaking of which, does anyone know of a site that lists which of those services the average PC user will be okay to cancel?

okay i was disabling services and when i disabled one of them my right click menu's have stopped working properly, when i right click the menu is invisible until i scroll my mous over it then it appears, can sum1 tell me how to solve this

Start->Settings->Control Panel->Security Centre

On the virus bubble there should be a button, maybe saying "Recommendations", click it and there should be a tick box at the bottom saying "I monitor this myself"

Restart the last service you stopped? I always check everything after each service to see if anything is wrong.
