How long has your system been on without being rebooted?

seems to run as well as it did the first week it was up for, but Ive only got 512MB of RAM at the moment so you can imagine..it isnt exactly as fast as when I had 1.5GB. Still loads stuff up instantly mind.

Not sure about XP, I've never used it on a server... but on our current server Windows Server 2003 slows to a crawl after about 30 days which sucks :(

77 days! That's a crazy amount of time. Electricity bill and risk of fire aside, why do you keep it on like that?

its not a server its my main PC running folding@home on both cores lol.

I had a pc I used for folding that was up for ~250 days but the room it was in required a new carpet so it had to be switched off. http://aycu01.webshots.com/image/25520/2003439072773350999_rs.jpg only screenshotted it at 205 days due to me forgetting about it.

my servers been up for 68 days atm, running 2003 server and its still very fast for the spec ? running dns and active directory.

i worry a lot about it catching on fire, epsecially when im away from home which I am most of the time and it has a hiper type r psu..

ive always kept pc's on for a long time as I find they run better and I can never be bothered to wait for it to boot up, its just nice having it ready to use whenever it needs to be used.

Now why on earth would your main PC be up for 77 days!? :p

Have you not rebooted from monthly updates at all?

I dont update any PC. I find if it runs properly without having updates I dont bother and Im behind an SPI firewall so I shouldn't get any hackers. I find XP SP2 runs flawlessly with no updates applied but there are probably lots of vulnerabilities.

Just a quick note, there are plenty of vulnerabilities that will not be stopped by a firewall as they are piggy backing in on legitimate ports/web traffic. Just thought I'd let you know.

Been on for about a month and a half since the last reboot. I believe that was back for installing a USB device :p

2 Weeks and it was a web server at the time running XP. I normally reboot my main pc after around 6 days vista is the only OS which I found does not slow down after a certain ammount of time.

Generally my Media Centre (2005) PC only gets rebooted when it is required to do so by windows critical updates.

I do use the S3 standby feature to save power ;-)
