How long should you spend in the gym.

Not so much what YOU do, but what is the consensus regarding most efficient use of time spent training vs gains toward your desired goal.
Does it differ for different goals (weight loss vs muscle gain etc)

When I was lifting heavy, three to four hours at a time now that I am dedicated to shrinking down roughly an hour and a half.

Normally 40ish minutes can go up to an hour if I'm doing a full body workout

Hows the shrinking down going?

Strength is going quite rapidly, shrinking is taking its time. I'm just eating less and 3-4 days a week intense cardio and the heaviest dumbbells I use are 5 kilos \o/.

Usually try to keep it to around an hour (for a resistance workout) Though might find a Chest or Back day might creep to nearer 80-90 minutes depending on how busy it is and if I'm deadlifting etc.

Shoulders can be blasted in 45 minutes and Legs generally tend to take an hour and a half minimum sometimes nearer to 2 hours if volume training.

It's all relative to what and how you are training.

Ive heard that after 45 minutes your energy stores ae pretty much depleted so do all the big compounds within this time and isolation outside of it

does depend how much rest time you take and how many exercise you wish to do

Round 45 minutes although I usually just go in when it's not busy so don't have to wait and have short rests in between reps. I never do cadio inside gyms mind just weights.

Oh right off topic sorry.

I said quite a while ago now that I just don't have the heart for it anymore, the last big lift I did was a 270 kilo dead lift attempt but failed to lock out 100%! I have asthma and having a big frame doesn't help one bit. I really want to pursue mountain biking in a big way something I have debated with myself for a long time and having a smaller frame would be better:).

Fair play, I do love mountain biking so understand why you want to do it for that :)

I pop in and out of the Big bike thread and get so jealous of all of you guys and your pretty bikes and amazing scenery:cool:.

Sorry for totally recking your thread Scubascorpion:(.

No sorry, I meant in regards to your weight lifting. Surely you wish to keep as much lean mass as possible while you get smaller (Unless you are 22 stone lean which would be hella impressive!).
