How long is your work day?

Next week I'm on a 8:00 - 4:15 shift with an hours lunch and a couple of breaks thrown in for good measure. 10 minute drive to and from work (which normally involves leaving the house late and starting my shift at 8:05/8:10)

I only do a 36 hour week which technically makes me part time doesn't it????

I spent ten long years doing 8am till 5pm on lousy pay. Now that I'm with 'The Mail' the length of the working day is rarely the same two days in a row. Some days it's a cushy ride, but others (like today :() can be a bit of a mare.

For me the 5am starts were both the jobs main selling point, but also its major problem. Catnaps in the afternoon were frequent events, but they rarely helped with the general fatigue that came as a result of getting up at 3:35am each morning.

Now that we've been shifted to 6am, I do feel much better, but I miss hitting the streets when they're nice and quiet.

Up at 6.10am, leave home at 6.45am to be in work from 7am-3pm, and I'm back home for 3.15pm on a good day.

Current: 8 hours. 8-4pm...well 8 hours 10 minutes including travel.

New Job (December): 8 hours. 9-5...well 8 hours 20 minutes including travel time ( I have to cycle further! :D )

Should be around 8 hours but running into 12 hours+ at the moment.

Start around 08:00 finish between 20 - 21:00 but no commute as I'm feild based :D
(Although I still do ~80k a year :( )

Hmmm...

Usually get up about 8am, leave house around 9am, start work at 10am, finish at 7pm and get home for ~7.15pm

if i'm on a straight, i'll leave for work at 2.45pm for a 3pm start, finish at 9.30-10pm, if i'm on a split then i'll leave at 9.15am for a 9.30-2pm, then 6pm till 9.30-10pm

Leave house at 7.30am, get home about 5.10pm - typical uni day except Mondays when I don't go in until later (12pm).

Work 5.45pm-10pm 2-3 nights a week and usually a 8.45am-6pm shift on Saturday and 12.45pm-6pm on a Sunday. I'm working way too much at the minute which will have to change as it's starting to get in the way with my uni work.

Could be worse, typical day I'll be up about 6-40, leave the house at 7-20 or so. Train gets into Waterloo at about 7-50, 5 minutes on the sardine tim that is the waterloo and city line and a short walk. Starbucks on the way to convince my body it's time to do some work, work through to 6 or maybe a little later (lunch is generally in a meeting). Then I'll be home for 7 on a good day, a little shy of 12 hours, not too bad but I always feel shattered on saturday morning...

5pm till 5pm 3 days a week :):) plus days can be altered so i get almost 6days till the next shift , hence like last week my long surfing trips to Cornwall:)

you're very lucky - I'm currently doing a postgrad, and have decided to live at home for the year to save on expenses which can only mean stupid amounts of time wasted on travel. My average day:

1) out of the house by 6:35am
2)meet b/f for breakfast at 9am (LOOOONG commute)
3)Tutorials from 11:30-5:30, includes a 2 hour break at some point.
4)head off home at 5:30
5)arrive home at 7:45-8:10pm, depending on train/tube/bus - I need all three to get home...

THEN, i need to study, wash, eat and sleep....

:( am constantly in need of sleep

Leave the flat at 7.30am, usually get home around 7pm.

Really need to find a place to live closer to the office.
