How long would a GTX295 last if i was using it as a physx card ?

Have purchased a GTX 470 watercooled and was going to use my old gtx295 as a physx card i kow it will only use the 240 ppu's and not the full 480 but i could use one side for physx and the othe side for seti, would this be overkill or would it tide me over for a while to come ?

Unless you are intent on DX11, the gtx295 will most likely be faster than the 470 as your main GPU. It's still a phenomenal card.

Yep, having replaced sli gtx 275's, (pretty comparable to a 295) with a 470 gtx, minimum fps was higher but lower maximums, once overclocked to 800mhz core though the 470 showed good gains, i since added a second 470 as they were pretty cheap.

Not much in it, overclock the 470 and it should leave the 295 for dead, one GPU over SLI any day at similar performance levels. Sell the 295 on, it's not worth the extra hear and power consumption, the 470 can do physx fine on its own.

Was thinking about it butr think having got a watercooled 470 it will perform just as gd if not around the same so gona leave thje 295gtx out too much niose and power like ravinXXX2 says.
