How loud is the Hitachi T7K250?

I'm looking to replace an aging IBM Deskstar 60gb. It's been completely reliable (more so than my newish Maxtor). But it has a slight high pitched whine even in idle. I'm trying to silence the PC.

The modern day Hitachis are clearly the best overall drives in terms of performance. But do they exhibit a similar whine? I'm not too bothered about noise during access but am trying to make a quiet PC when at idle.

No whine from any of my 4 drives ;). And if they are loud at seek, the Hitachi Feature tool has an acoustic management tool which allows you to turn down the drive (obviously with some performance loss).

I've got a couple of 120GXP IBMs that have been in constant use for 4 years. The boot drive started to whine a little about 6 months ago. The later drive families (180GXP and the 7K250 series) have FDB motors so should remain quiet as a mouse unless they throw a bearing.

And by FDB he means Fluid Dynamic Bearing motors :p (for those not in the know).
