How many AA batteries would it take to power an A380?

It that breaking any laws of physics though? Could you not distribute the weight over eight planes, connect them in series and then use them to fly the other plane?

The batteries spread across 8 planes would only be enough to power 1 plane. To power up 8 planes would need 8 times the amount (and weight) of batteries.

Oh my, you may have solved it (and broken laws of physics!).

Pretty sure it would take 8 D Cells and a little watch battery to stop the clock resetting when you change them over.

Isn't there a fundamental issue here that you can't power a jet plane with batteries in the first place? It would have to be a prop. Electrical power can't magically create thrust equivalent to a jet - but it could produce rotational movement equivalent to a propeller.

Yeah a jet engine requires combustible fuel, you can't power the turbofan engines electrically.

Electricity can only work for short distance propeller aircraft. There is no way to replace jet engines with electrically powered engines, propeller aircraft are slow by comparison and batteries have very low energy density compared to jet fuel.
