Last summer my two 13 year olds and i caught a whopper of a spider and a huge daddy long legs (crane fly?) we put them both in an upside glass, where they both tried to claw their way out of opposite sides of the glass for literally 40 mins. After that the spider must have thought "aaah....sod it, time for lunch!" and pounced on the dll, nailing it, although it took another good 10 mins before the dll stop twitching aorund, lol.
 
I just killed a rather nimble spider (it was medium in size).

I first saw it when doing a job, and it quickly traversed along the edge of the stairs to a plant. With several swipes of the duster I managed to make it move into a small wicker basket. From there it's fate was sealed. I struck hard several times, and managed to encapsulate it within the fluffy manacles of the duster. It was promptly disposed of in the toilet. :p

I used to like British spiders on the pretense that they can't bite/poison me so I was nice to them. Now with all the global warming malarky and spiders getting bigger I tend to kill the ones I can.

Wasps get over killed duke nukem style with spray. The toss pots. As useful to me as a <insert analogy>.
 
I killed loads as a kid, especially during the summer with a magnifying glass. These days, I'm more a tree hugging hippy and leave them to their business, unless the cats see them in which case they need to be moved.

same as me, i used to kill them all the time but as of late i realised they dont do me any harm and just chuck em outside
 
Loads, loads and loads!

Since they're house spider, they don't make a 'proper' web like the wild ones so they're pretty unless for catching flies and I killed them as well as the flies.

Tossing spiders out is pointless...only for them to return to your house and sneaked under your duvet! :D
 
Nowadays I dont kill them, I suck them up with the hoover... less risk of it falling on me when i attack it

yes and when it comes to emptying the bag for the hoover out pops 100's of big spiders that survivded during be sucked and then in there till you decide it needs emptying

I had one under my duvet last night :( Luckily it ran out as I was rearranging the duvet before I got in.
 
In answer to the OP's question... NOT ENOUGH.... my house (over 80 years old), is over run with the 8 legged freaks, from the tiny little money spiders to big fellas (bigger than a 50 pence piece).

My wife has a fobia about them, so any spotted are quicky dispatched with whatever implement comes to hand !!!

As for them killing flies..... not in my house... my dogs do a better job :eek:
