somewhere out there!
So after seeing Stacey Dooleys how to declutter your life, seems to have a few comments re books and quantity. So she seemed to say/make a point of stating 250/450/500 books, was a lot.

This doesnt seem a lot to us but we have seen it a lot where people comment on books.

Are we just old and appreciate books or are we all alone with owning books?

Got rid of most of mine - got a small number of old favourites in a box with other souvenirs and momentos and the like.

My parents still have several 100 books of all kinds from novels to religious stuff, etc. etc. probably more than that as my dad has several dozen sets of books with like 20-50 volumes in a series.

Probably into the thousand odd even though I mostly use my Kindle now. I think it's not clutter if you have the space for them. I like looking at my run of Pratchett, Erikson, Banks, etc. If I won the lottery I'd try and have first editions of all of the books I like.

Planning to build some shelving for my collection of Punch annuals soon. Got a full run from late 1870s to 2nd WW. For info: https://www.kent.ac.uk/library-it/special-collections/british-cartoon-archive/punch-collection

I'm probably only four 1st 1st's away from having every Practhett. Obviously I haven't got The Colour of Magic I may pick up an American 1st for that if I have some spare cash.
In the 90's I remember getting the latest hardbook for Christams and devouring it in a day or two.

a couple of hundred probably. have given most to charity shops after reading.
they double as an extra layer of insulation on the wall

About 600 at a guess. Might be a few more. I like books. And e-books are a very poor substitute, for any number of reasons. I've read well over four thousand though, so that's pretty restrained.

Dunno. Several hundred, maybe a thousand- nearly all scifi.

I got rid of several hundred a few years back, as they were taking up too much room. There's a few I wish I had kept.

My to read pile is at least 4 foot high at the moment.

I have a small bookcase full. Roughly 50 books I guess. I regularly get new books, I just limit what I keep, so if I'm storing a new book then an old one has to go. On a nice day I'll stick a box of free books on the street and people help themselves.

Apparently a thousand books is classed as a library.

My mrs has probably about 300-400. They're now taking up a good portion of the office, shelves are double stacked and everything.

I've probably only got a few hundred (maybe 200?) novels in paper form these days, but I also have a bunch of graphic novels, and books about films etc. Most of my books these days are electronic.

Film and TV on the other hand...I need to redecorate and when I do I'm going full floor to ceiling with the highest density storage I can manage:p
