Basically having read in a lot of places that they are the nehelam architecture I naturally assumed they were both quad but having seen THIS and THIS it says they have just 2 cores. Can someone say for deffo please!? Thanks

All i3 CPUs are dual cores (2 physical cores) with Hyperthreading.
The i5 7** CPUs are quad cores (4 physical cores).
The i5 6** CPUs are dual cores with Hyperthreading like the i3s.

Yup. In order to further confuse matters, all the i series CPUs feature Turbo Boost except the i3 series.

there are some dual core i5s with hyperthreading or quad core i5s without hyperthreading. looks liket he clarksdales released with the i3s are dual core with hyperthreading while the earlier lynfields are quad core without hyperthreading

i3 5XX = Dual Core, Hyperthreaded, On Package GPU, Dual Channel Memory, 32nm
i5 6XX = Dual Core, Hyperthreaded, On Package GPU, Turbo Mode, Dual Channel Memory, 32nm
i5 7XX = Quad Core, Turbo Mode, Dual Channel Memory, 45nm
i7 8XX = Quad Core, Hyperthreaded, Turbo Mode, Dual Channel Memory, 45nm
i7 9XX = Quad Core, Hyperthreaded, Turbo Mode, Triple Channel Memory, 45nm
i7 9XXX = HeX Core, Hyperthreaded, Turbo Mode, Triple Channel Memory, 32nm
