How many have given up on SLI/Crossfire?

I've given up after the BF3 release.

I did have 2x6870s in crossfire but after getting stutter regardless of driver and CAP combinations it never seemed to go completely.

BG3 is going to get some hammer, so that just wouldn't do.

Things I don't like about corssfire is waiting weeks and weeks for crossfire profiles to come out, F1 2011 being a prime example here. I've had issues with my 4870x2 in the past with several games (stutter, only using 1 GPU, etc).

Very tempted to ditch it for a 580 (or two..). But my gut is telling me to wait until ATi's next offering early next year.

It's well over a month now. Just over 6 weeks to be exact. We get one rubbish CAP for it and CrossFire with it's shoddy performance for the game only runs in DX9.

This should be taken down.

I have to say my next gpu purchase will be to get the best single card I can afford- When sli runs well the benefits are clear however in the games I play high fps definitley does not mean a smooth or enjoyable experience.

I only got a 2md gtx 275 on the cheap so I could play mafia 2 with some physx which it did great on my low res monitor but since then its just not worth it. I hate having to disable it to play ssf4 ae or fifa 12 as it just doesn't play as smoothly when sli is on.

Now I realize those games don't need that much horsepower but its just a pain to have to keep enabling/disabling sli depending on what game I'm playing.

Like many others, the final straw is bf3 which reports high framerates but I guess due to the age of my cards I get random stuttering which again magically disappears when running on a single card admittedly with slightly lower settings.

My only concern with a single card would be that I'm looking to get the nvidia 3d vision setup so was concerned wether a single card could max settings at 1080p in 3d?! I wouldnt play fps in 3d just racing games so I hope it would be ok.

Might get 2 X 7850\70 depending on price\performance\heat issues, fancy another go at CF as the first time I had CF5770 and they were very good and I had no bother with them.:)

Haven't given up on CF/SLi, only because I haven't went down the route. :P

Don't think I'll be going CF/SLi in the future, I have no plans to go 3D or multi-monitor in the future, a single decent card @ 1080p is good enough for me.

I definitely won't bother with SLi/Crossfire in the future, I've said this already in the thread but Skyrim having zero crossfire support with no preview drivers or CAPs in sight is a massive disgrace.

But thats the problem. At least for me. X-Fire provides higher frame rates according to afterburner, but it just doesn't feel smoother.

Sometimes it will be smooth in X-fire, but then it will feel juddery again (without frame rate noticeably dropping), when will go smooth again.

It's the inconsistency that drives me mental. It's just that once again, I am spending more time mucking about trying to get things running nicely, than playing any games.

I here you!!! 3x 6970's and 2x 6990's 3x z68 motherboards and 2x big PSU'S later and i have given up nothing will make it run well in eyefinity lol.. Back to my PS3. and no money haha

Just purchased another pair of cards for sli, (gtx 460's), my experience of it over the years has been very good, a few niggles with early cards such as 6800gt's.

3 screens means i pretty much have to rely on it, playing one one screen after a year of eyefinity make it look like someone has just blacked out your field of view.

Had no real issues with the 6970's in crossfire, down to 1 card untill the 79xx series come along. Had kepler been released around the same time i would have considered that, looks like its not to be though.

picked up a second 5850 when there was a offer going for 110 quid, havent looked back, havent noticed any problems but I run a very ordinary resolution of 1920x1800.

stuttering went in bf3 when i shoved 8gb of ram in, I can run ultra settings fine now.

My 560 Ti's are fantastic, Don't suffer with microstutter and frame rates are great.

I've only ever had crossfire 3870's before and they were utter rubbish.

SLI have matured very well though, and I find it great.

The ones ive got are Gigabyte windforce dual fan cooler cards, both bought on members market.

Theese ones here.

8800 gts 512's
8800gt's
Gtx 275's
Gtx 470's
Gtx 460's

The only cards i owned that were run single were a 7900gt and a gtx 280.
