Back then we didn't have ABS and you were meant to stop the car as quickly as possible with a minimum of skidding. If you didn't then you'd fail. Now it seems you can just stand on the brake pedal with ABS and the worst you'll get is a minor, which sort of negates the whole point of the emergency stop test.First Minor was on my Emergency Stop, According the the Instructor i hit the ABS Brakes " TOO HARD AND FAST " Even though thats what your meant to do with ABS Brakes
Breaking the speed limit (and thus the law) was an immediate fail back then, now it's merely a minor!1 - doing 35 mph in a 30 mph
I actually failed my first test for these, having failed to check my mirrors enough (I did check them a fair bit) and hesitating at a junction where I waited for the next gap and the examiner decided I could have gone in an earlier, smaller one.1 for observation and 2 for hesitation
