How Many Mobile Networks Have You Tried?

For calling I've only ever tried Vodafone. I've always been happy with the service so I haven't tried anyone else yet, but it would probably be a good idea to try some of the others.

O2 and Vodafone (was with O2 for a long time, Vodafone since June 2009)

O2 by a long way, Vodafone signal is patchy around where I live/work/do-stuff, and even when I get 3G it's fairly slow, O2 seemed a lot better in this regard.

Add in the stuff vodafone is pulling like changing a 500Mb FUP to a hard cap, and the '360' crud first for the Desire and now the Galaxy S and I have no desire to spend anymore time with them, but 24 month contract :(

Roll on June next year and I'll either be going back to O2 or trying out Orange/T-Mobile probably, certainly not staying with Vodafone.

Three.

O2, Orange, Virgin.

O2 and Virgin pretty similar for signal around here.

Orange is awful.

Well..... i started with cellnet, One-2-One, Orange, Vodaphone, 3, t-mobile, O2, Virgin and been with Orange again now for a few years :)
Cant say who was best as some took over others and all provide much better services now technology has progressed. Cant really imagine now that all we could do with our phones was phone people. :D

BT Cellnet, Orange, Virgin, o2 and T-Mobile.

Switched to T-Mobile because of the better coverage at home compared to Orange and because I was sick of the Orange customer services, they were appalling.

Orange - First phone and was ok, but was way back when and phone was a brick

Cellnet - back in 97 for this one. Good coverage and phone was ok for the time

3 - biggest back of carp ever for a network. rubbish phone, rubbuish coverage (could not hold a call for more than a minute) and rubbish customer services. WOuld not go back. Was when they had just started, but would not go back now even if they offered to pay for my calls for the time i was with them (well, i might go for that, but would need a big bag of Haribo too)

Vodafone - went to them after i lost my rag with 3 phone and found they do not bounce very well when thrown at concrete floors. No problems with them at all

O2 - good phones (N97 and iPhone 3G) and good coverage

Vodafone (again) - still good coverage and only went back as i got my Desire (unlocked from purchase :D ) for free and i get better coverage when i am at sea with work.

Guess that adds up to 4, 5 if you count Voda for the second time.

Was with Virgin (T-Mobile) a few years ago whilst living in York and was perfectly happy with it. Changed to Tesco(02) PAYG and again very happy with the coverage.
With my first smart phone I joined Orange and it's the network I've been least happy with, with a less than perfect signal at home.
At the end of the contract I joined giffgaff(02) and again was very happy.
With my Samsung Galaxy S I joined T-Mobile again and I've been delighted with them and would definately stick with them at the end of this contract.

I've used all of the networks in this country. Out of them all I found Orange and T-Mobile to be the best for me overall. Three end up bottom of the list but that's because of their poor customer services billing failures - the network itself was fine.

every last one apart from what was BT cellnet waaayyyyy back in the day

my current and favourite are vodafone, get a phone for 10 quid a month, there always helpful and very cost effective

Was with Cellnet / O2 for about 11 years and now with Orange. Find them comparable with regard to network coverage but orange slightly better with data. Not much in it really.

BT cellnet, O2, Orange, 3 and now Vodafone.

I live near the Vodafone HQ, so perfect signal for miles around. They have by far the best customer service... but usually the most expensive. Also signal can be a little more patchy on the trains than O2 and Orange I found, but usually only lasts a minute or two.

I find the 3G fast when in any city/town so no problems. Passport = very cheap calls when abroad too so well worth it in my opinion.

In recent years it was Three and O2, the coverage of Three in my area wasn't so good and customer services were absolute pain the arse when it came to cancelling. Been happy with O2 since, coverage much better around my house and customer services have been very helpful and quick in all cases.

I have always been with orange, but recently there customer service forced me to change to T-mobile. Oranges signal was crap in my area but the data seemed fairly good; compared to my T-mobile that seems to have excellent signal in most places here in cornwall but the data plan is not as good. Oranges custmer service lied and repeatly fobbed me off.

One2one
o2
Vodafone

I started with one2one in 1997. They had 80% coverage then and were pretty bad. Luckily, I had an almost full signal at my house. I swappped to Orange a couple of years later because most people I knew seemed to be on Orange and cross network minutes hadn't come along at that point. Went to o2 in 2005 and I'm still with them now. I did have a phone with Vodafone for about 4 days in 2006 but returned it. They still owe me £50 and would admit this everytime I rang them but the cheque never arrived. Because "it takes 28 days to process", I could only ring once a month to see where my cheque was. I gave up after about 10 months.

So I wouldn't have Vodafone again and I wouldn't have 3 based on friends' experiences with them. I've heard a few stories about trying to cancel at the end of the minimum term. The "we never received the letter" is popular for 3 but my favourite was a friend calling 3 to cancel and 3 asking for this in writing. Ok, pretty standard with mobile contracts so she sent a letter of cancellation. The phone had been replaced with another network/contract by this point so wasn't in use. 3 continued to bill her so she called up.

Friend: Why are you still billing me? I sent you a letter of cancellation.
3: Yes, we received that
Friend: oh good, so it's cancelled then?
3: No
Friend: why?
3: Well, When we receved the letter, we tried to call you to make sure that you wanted to cancel
Friend: Right, OK?
3: We couldn't get through (phone was off/out of use by then) so we didn't cancel "just in case"

I'll say one good thing about 3. They really upped the ante when it comes to included minutes. Up untill then, 200 minutes was pretty standard for £30. 3's main tariff was 500 minutes for £25. It wasn't long before all the other networks started offering better deals for higher minutes. At the time, the 'o2 max' tariff was £75 for 750 minutes
