how many new games require 1gig+ of ram?

As stated above as soon as 64bit OS's are common 4GB of ram will undoubtedly be amongst the things we will have to consider to get max benefit

At the moment however there is no advantage at all above 2Gb

I'd be suprised if we see any benefit from >2gig RAM until 2008, at least on WinXP.

Not sure how Vista will shake things up in terms of memory requirements. I'm guessing it is gonna have a pretty hefty footprint (200meg+ on boot).

Thats what I was stating Win XP is only 32 bit , so you wont see any benefit about 2GB - unless you count Win XP 64 bit but the drivers for this are still not complete for everything.... and most games arent optimised

Vista will come in 32bit and 64 bit varieties also , so depending on the version you run you still may not see any benfit over 2GB of RAM
