How many passwords do you have for work?

List of password systems that have completely different password requirements and date changes
- HR
- US accounting system
- Windows login
- Desk phone
- Benefits system
- VPN

Why can't they (except desk phone) just use the one login?! Or at least make the policies aligned :( Can't install any software either so it's not like I can use a password manager so Outlook has to do instead. Insecure but don't have much alternatives.

I can count 6 and thats just logging into local boxes. Theres probably at least that again probably more for out standardised customer servers plus any others that are specific. Id probably have to estimate anywhere between 20 and 30 different passwords of a day to day basis and that doesnt include my private ones for forums online banking email accounts etc

1 to get into lastpass, that's 14 characters, mix of lower, upper, numeric and punctuation, no real words in the stream. From there on in there's a 100 or more service accounts that are usually 20-30 random characters long. I try to use public/private keys wherever possible and most accounts have 2fa wherever possible/appropriate using Google Authenticator.

We are terrible at work with one horrendously overused password. It makes me sad.

At home I use Keepass which contains 70+ passwords and for a few other sites, which I sign into often, I use the dice password method.

Just my fingerprint. Though I also have to remember my 5 digit employee number, which took me months.

Yes, out of all of my jobs in airports, construction companies, expos, IT and temping at various secure places, the first time I have to use a fingerprint scanner is a cram school.

5 main, rest of them are in KeePass or login taken care of by Single Sign on. There are other various services and passwords, but I would say on daily basis 5 is the minimum I use

Personal passwords, is a completely different story....

A lot.

Our personal ones (we need about 8) automatically expire every 20 days (even if they haven't been compromised) and we cannot reuse old ones. This results in people writing them down which goes against the security philosophy...

Work, we have at least 10 for various servers and to accompany biometric identification. These change every time a staff member leaves.

5, however a site which i had to support a few years ago had an RM network (I know) and their admin password was change_me (the default password for RM ) i **** you not, it had been that for approximately 10 years.

50+

unix systems admin, loads of systems, loads of VM's all over the place etc.. 50+ are the ones I remember and use.. loads more in the keepass too

Pretty much the same for us.

We have around 250+ Unix/Linux Servers (2 accounts per server for me) and around 60+ virtual Windows servers, each application account has a different password too, and then all of the systems from the front end, so another 70+.

Plenty password safe's / spreadsheets.

Then the usual laptop, VPN, citrix, etc etc.

Just one for me, but the users currently have upwards of 20 systems they log into daily which are all separate, only a few apps have pass through. Currently implementing Imprivata SSO to help folks out.
