My Mrs. was caught by a peeler with a speed camera last night on a stretch of dual carriageway, I can't seem to weedle out of her how fast she was going or what the speed limit is on that stretch of road. She thinks she was possibly doing between 70 and 80 so it's probably more like 80-85 while overtaking, if she has been nabbed and assuming it's a 70mph speed limit is it normally just 3pts and a £60 fine? She's concerned her insurance will sky rocket (we only pay £220 a year at the moment fully comp). And before the anti-speeding brigade crack their knuckles I know it's her fault and she has been told.

Yeah should be 3 points and £60 although if she was nearer an indicated 80 (which will be less in "actual" mph) then I'd be suprised if she got anything.
If its her first offence then the chances are that it won't effect her insurance at all.

If they didn't stop her then it's unlikely she will get done, unless they took a picture and she eluded capture.

No problem, she did say that she couldn't see this dudes car and despite keeping a lookout didn't see any cop cars further down the road either, knowing her it probably wasn't even the police.
They have to post the NIP w/in 14 days, after that it's invalid unless they can show other reasons why her actions or lack of caused the delay eg she failed to update her address details etc. Look on the bright side I know one driver with 14 points (no that is not a typo) and they still let him keep his licence, he notified the insurance co and was told they were not bothered till renewal but to start saving now .... my old man god 6 points in the space of a month and didn't notify the insurance co and they gave him major grief when he had to claim.

Found out just now she's still has her license registered at our old address (nearly 4 years old) now, I casually mentioned that she could end up with a £1000 fine if she ever get's a producer but it fell on deaf ears. Women pfft.
I like the way she goes from being concerned about her insurance rocketing from £230 to not wanting to know about £1000 
Out of curiosity is she's ok if you blow at least 1k on a new pc etc but goes off on one if you buy brand name Cola by any chance ? I love female logic

if she was overtaking a car at the time then she can say that the police wernt following their own guidlines. which says the 'radar' must be aimed at the target vehicle where no other vehicles could interfear. so if she was side on to another car then its worth a try.

I just got an NIP for 41 in a 30 zone. The irony is, I was ina POS c4 VTR 1.6 hire car when I usually loon about in the GTO

Oh and for the omglolzbbqwtfone1111!!!!! think of the children brigade come along, I was thinking of them, the little ***** ********'s that live in this area would have had the block out and the alloys off if I went much slower. Slighly off topic, but when you speed during the day ( as opposed to night) , do you still see the flash when the camera snaps you? Reason be I think I might have been caught other day, but didn't see a flash, and I am pretty sure I would have noticed any flash, since I was half watching the car behind me who was up my ass.

She'd never know if I spent £1000 on a new PC
She did however find out that I blew over 2 grand on a pair of decks/mixer/vinyl, that didn't go down well.
