I got caught doing 36 in a 30 by a handheld... Was 17 at the time so I went on the speed awareness course :)

In the 8 years ive been on the roads i have 3 points

LC20 - Driving a moped with no back L plate, £60 fine and ofc the 3 points

only been driving a car for a year and a half and i have 0 points on my license for totting up (and the 3 go off in june for insurance purposes!)

ive currently got a license with 0 points on it

but ive had 12 points over the years.

2001 SP50 - speeding on a motorway
2003 SP30 - 40 in a 30
2004 TS10 - Jumping Lights ( still dont believe this, but long story)
2004 SP30 - 40 in a 30.

The period in 2003-2004 was when i was living in leicester and just moved into the area. Theres mobile camera vans everywhere (that was the 2 x 40 in a 30) and by the time you've seen them its too late.

The Jumping the lights issue im still adament i crossed the line when it was green, but got stuck in the middle of the junction due to somebody breaking in front. But im told this isnt possible and you have to cross the line after its gone red to set it off. So the only conclusion i can come to, is that somebody crossed the line, set the photo off, and because the traffic was at a standstill, the flash that was designed to catch the person crossing the line , caught me in a que in the middle of the junction.

Leicester is a bitch for driving, was at uni there and the gf got done for running a red on narborough, although this was at 40 and no attempt at breaking was made, but it was clear and 2am if that counts.

Was up this weekend and the amount of cameras and traffiic lights stuck on red lights still ceases to amaze me.

glad im not the only one

Ive not got any points since 2004, and we moved out of leicester in late 2004. Co-incidence ? i think not :D

seriously, you will hardly ever seen leicestershire trafpol doing anything of any merit. Leicestershire police spend all their budget on a massive fleet of camera vans (their depot is on meridian business park, and ive seen inside it, fisking loads of them in there) and fixed cameras. Almost no manual policing at all

In wakefield, its very common to see trafpol in their Volvos parked up sat watching people.

I'm amazed so many people have more than 3 points - avoiding getting points isn't rocket science.

try driving in leicestershire

its very easy to do 35 in a 30, especially the way the roads are limited. I mean look at this for goodness sakes

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sourc...189109&spn=0.001199,0.003476&t=h&z=19&iwloc=A

the dual carriageway you see in these photos has a proper central reservation, its fenced off from the industrial estate on one side, and rural to the other. It even has a proper fly over for a junction with slip roads

and its still only a 50 !!

When combined with a whole fleet of camera vans, that by the time you've seen them its too late, its very easy to get caught

It all depends on where you live, ive not had a single point in west yorkshire, as they dont have any daft mobile cameras operating on roads that should be higher speed limits.
