Got chance to go have a look at an 07 reg car with 55k miles on it, they want a fairly reasonable price for it, however 8 owners does seem a little scary, however thinking about it, assuming it has receipts/paperwork for all works carried out then it wouldn't be as bad as it sounds?

What is it... ?

Massive difference from having something like a Evo to a Focus.

8 owners is still a lot regardless though for the age.

A diesel Seat Leon mk2, 170bhp model, nothing too fancy I suppose

I think 8 owners would raise my eyebrow on a car like that, almost a new owner a year.

However if there's paperwork for each service etc it may not be as bad as it seems. Edit, just noticed 55k low for a diesel that age, you would think some of those owners would put miles on it.

That's what I thought, if paperwork goes in favour of servicing and mot's and whatnot and nothing drastic then I wouldn't personally see an issue, suppose it's like saying I wouldn't want a future with that woman as she's been with a few fellas before me :p It doesn't really bother you does it...

I think the one thing about this car though, is it is not exactly rare.
It would be interesting to see the breakdown per mileage each person has done, but with what it is I would likely put it toward the bottom of the list!

I can't think of a reason I'd be comfortable with why nobody kept a Seat Leon diesel either:

a) More than a year
b) Long enough to do anything other than low mileage in it.

Most strange.

Extremely, seller said it's been a finance repo in the past, not that it worries me all that much to be honest, not my issue if someone else couldn't afford it..

If they couldn't afford the car then they definitely couldn't afford to maintain it.

It's a seat Leon, not a Ferrari 355 ;)walk away and find another! IS not like it's extremely cheap or something, you said reasonably priced so others will be around at that price.

Weirdly the price they are asking, the others I've seen are either 30k higher miles or the lower spec which I've had before so don't fancy it again

For a "collectable", or classic car it's ok.

For a run of the mill shopping trolley which isn't very old, there's probably a bad reason for there being that many.

I usually account for 2 during warranty period then 3 years per owner after that.

So for a 9 year old cars I'd not expect more me than 4 owners.

I bought a EP3 Civic Type R with 6 owners and it's now on 8 owners as my brother bought it from the guy I sold it to. It's on 120k miles now and going strong.

Good point. A Honda mechanic owned it before me and then a Toyota mechanic after me might've helped too.

A high number of owners on something like a Type R wouldn't cause me any concern.

In fact, it's just the type of car you'd buy, enjoy driving for half a year in the summer then flog it and move onto something else. It's a classic "fun to drive but difficult to live with" car for most people.
