Hello there, ive already decided im buying a quad core for my total upgrade in September due to the fact that i wont be able to upgrade again for some time, most likely years and therefore want to have a quad core ready. But im curious as to how many games you know which are going to be quadcore enabled.

Is it known yet if Crysis will be quad core enabled and do you think it will be very well scripted for the use of quad cores? Supreme comander uses them but i dont think very well. Crysis is one of the main games im hoping quad core will work on and be well optimized for it.

Do you recon all dx10 games in the future will be quad core? Or do you think they wont be really using it for a year or so?

Im hoping world of wars will also be quad core enabled.

So guys and girls i think ive babbled about enough. How many games do you know which enable quad core?

we had to wait for ~2 years before dual core was correctly used, i reckon it will be a similar timeframe before quad core will be utilized.

Pretty sure bioshock in about a months time is going to use as many cores as available given its side by side development with the Xbox 360 version

Yeah heres a quote from a dev on TTLG forums http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1512293#post1512293

Yes. We currently run

- simulation update (1 thread)
- UI update (1 thread)
- rendering (1 thread)
- physics (3 threads on Xenon, 1 to TBD on PC)
- audio state update (1 thread)
- audio processing (1 thread)
- texture streaming (1 thread)
- file streaming (1 thread)

Perhaps 2 years for it to be fully optimized. But technology has improved a lot. new knowlage from duel cores etc. I think they will pick it up a lot faster.

I think by a year there will be some solid games using it well. But maybe not to its potential.

IIRC, Half Life 2: Episode 2 uses at least dual core, if not quad core. And as has been said, Supreme Commander and Alan Wake. I remember reading something about Assassins Creed somewhere, but possibly not.

well it was good at first till i realized its all the same. And i hate driving missions on most games because they never seem to manage to make them intresting or feel right. I like realistic driving and i play a lot of driving games and spent 80 quid on a wheel. The james bond games are the worst. Yet i like flying on BF2 :) ... thats probly because if you can fly it equals a lot of kills lol. The J10 is rediculas and ive proved before that you can infact fire missiles backwards at helicopters.

Nah i wont becuase once designers use dual cores its much easier to create multipul threads for quads, octo etc
