Hey all,

Just reformatted my main PC and have 48 services running on a cold boot.

This seems like a lot to me, considering my work machine (almost same apps etc) so I was wondering.. how many do you run?

Main PC
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
Services: 48

Work PC
OS: Windows 7 Pro x86 SP1
Services: 39

Feel free to post screenshots of Task Manager, if you're feeling smug :D

If you mean processes, then this many, with all my usual programs open.

It's usually 1 less, I have my MP3 player plugged in at the moment.

i used to disable services i didn't use but gave up on that silliness years ago. i still like to keep 3rd party stuff to a minimum.

90 odd, not that it matters because number of processes does not equal how good or bad your system performs. Mine has a lot but it performs like a new install.

78 - two users logged in though. My rule of thumb if I'm looking at a machine is 50-100 is "normal" and anything over 100 I start to have a look to see what I can trim down. I don't really do it for performance reasons I just like to keep in check what's going on.
