I said have in the past been able to 90 in a minute, and that your "averagely fit" guy ie the likes of you and me, should be able to hit well over the 60 mark.
Anybody want to have a crack and see if i am right?
It doesnt need to be scientific just have a crack.
I will embarrass myself and have another go at it if someone else will :o .

Ok, someone else went first and bearing in mind i havnt so much as breathe heavily over the past year, i managed 67.

Thats a whole 23 off my previous best.

I also feel sick now as well.

I assume you're following the pattern of
- Fingers on temples, elbows out in front at all times.
-1 rep is from shoulders on floor up to elbows on top (not just touching) of your knees, and back down again.

If so, then I'm on 45.

Looks like you need to try harder.

Its a pity Jonesc2ii isnt on here anymore, he could show us all up.

I need to try harder? Nobody at RAF selection I've heard of has ever gotten more than 60. Sheesh, at selection for the Royal Marines they tell you to stop if you get to 80 in 2 minutes.

I've seen the people at RAF selection, i'm not surprised a bunch of students and girls cant do more than 60 in a minute ;) .

The yard stick you use for comparison "because someone in the army cant do it, it must be hard" doesnt really cut much ice.

Here is some sit up facts:

We are not even close to being anything special sit up wise.

The amount of sit-ups you can do has no relevance to how fit you are.

If you did nothing but hundreds of sit-ups you'd end up very good at sit-ups and able to do loads but it wouldn't mean you were fit.

You wouldn't correlate fitness to how many reps of a bench press or squats someone can do so why do it with sit-ups?

This isnt the point of the thread.

I dont care if you are fit enough to run around the planet non stop without breaking a sweat.
The question is, how many can you do in a minute.
If you dont want to try it or if you want to argue about how great the RAF selection course is bugger off and start another thread and stop filling this thread with this off topic gayness.

So far, I'm winning and you are all faggots. ;)

Your opening post correlated 'average fitness' with a suggested number of situps so you opened it up to 'gay criticism'

I don't know how many situps I can do, I'd rather prove my suprememe manliness on the pullup bar - got any figures for those?

.....So far the average guys who have tried it have got 60, thats me Johnson and i suspect if Gilly hadnt had his dinner coming up he would have hit 60 as well.

As for Pull ups I dont know how many i can do, to be quite honest the only time ive done them is at work on the cages when we are waiting around doing nothing, i can do 10 one handed ones with each arm and then i dont do anymore, which i suspect is **** poor.

Would push ups be easier for everyone?

That would make you exceptionally strong, by exceptional I mean freak levels. Highly skilled gymnasts and rock climbers are usually the only people who can rep on one arm.

One arm pullups are regarded as one of the most impressive feats of strength there is, being able to do just one is a heck of an achievement.

If you can honestly do that many one arm pullups then I would bow down to you.

Now, i am no fitnes freak and i dont go to the gym.
I am under the understanding that "one arm" pull ups are when you hold the bar with "one hand" and then hold that wrist with your other.

Do i have this wrong?

I can bench press 400 lbs, how much can you?.. ;) I can also deadlift nearly 500lbs, which, I would guess, despite the fact you can do more situps, would make my abdominal muscles much stronger than yours (and this goes for quite a few people who lift in this forum)

In conclusion, your the faggot :p

Ive no idea.

I dont go to the gym

But i can lift 125 kilos in a crate up to my chest.

Which is 275lbs.

Im not boasting about strenth or indeed have any idea how we got on to willy waving at all, i am JUST SAYING that AVERAGE GUYS like you, me and a lot of others can do 60 sit ups in a minute if we really go for it.

There is no boasting there.

Same here, I weigh 240lbs, but cold only do 3!

I am 202 pounds.

The only gauge of how strong i am is i can lift my own weight over my head.

I should really quantify my statments, i dont work in an office i work in transport and from every summer holiday from when i was about 12 and then full time on from 15 i worked in a warehouse moving pallets, lamp posts, cookers, industrial Dies, Gearboxes, Engines, each and every single day for over 12 hours a day, for a lot of the time with no fork trucks or pallet trucks.

I would then once i started driving have to deliver these, again, with no forktrucks or pallet trucks.

I delivered an excercise machine once, it was in a box that was 90Kilos, i had it on my shoulder and the guy that i delivered it too couldnt even move the box let alone pick it up.

So thats 15 solid years of lifting heavy things for 12 hours a day, so its possible i might be stronger than your average man in the street.
But i doubt i am any fitter.

My Brother is the same, he went out on the lash last week and ended up challenging the bouncer at the night club to an Arm wrestle after they got talking about body building, neither of them won, but the bouncer had a good few inches of bicep over my little bro.

Im guessing you have a pretty impressive grip? My dad worked at the docks for years and can still crush my hand when he shakes it  :)

That Steve Sokol guy, what a ****!

Claiming to be the worlds fittest man, which is a blatent un-truth.

The worlds fittest man is Paddy Doyle, an amazing athlete and one of our countrymen from Birmingham, England.

Google him and check out his records... Amazing.

I've read about him, i just googled sit ups for those links.
