Coming onto the A46/M40 roundabout the light went amber when I was about 15 yards from them, I went through as there was no chance I would have stopped. An Audi TT followed me another 50 yards or so behind me and the camera went off twice. There were no other cars that went through that I could see.

I'd be pretty hacked off if I was done as there was no way of stopping for the line without a reverse thrust jet engine or something.

You should always be able to stop in time, or get through without being flashed, if you are sticking to the speed limit and driving to the conditions.

So you're trying to tell me that, 15 yards in front of the stop line, I'm expected to come to a halt at 30 mph? OK I was going 50 mph but it is a NSL road and no traffic, perfect conditions etc. By the time I noticed it was actually on amber and the reaction times etc I would have been on the line anyway. I always thought that amber means stop only if safe to do so and it clearly wasn't for me hence I carried on, unlike the Muppet behind me.

So it was red when you went through?

Not as I passed the line, no, it was still on amber.

Oh FGS, why do these threads always turn into "you should have known better" or "you should drive like xxxxxxxx" etc?

If you've nothing constructive to add in order to answer my question then don't post...

I'm not the one complaining about being caught out by blatantly obvious traffic cameras due to my inept driving.

If you don't want advice, don't post on an open forum. Simply wait for your fixed penalty to arrive and I'll look forward to the "I've got x points and my insurance has gone up" moany threads.

If you cannot follow simple road signs and signals, then I question your ability to drive effectively and safely.

Oh bore off already.

I wasn't in the wrong, I know that for a fact. Did I complain that I got cought? No, I asked a perfectly legitimate question, I went through the lights at amber which is not breaking the law. Fact is, you don't know exactly what happened therefore you don't have enough evidence to form an educated opinion, so therefor you're spouting nonsense to increase the size of your already over inflated ego. Like I said, if you have nothing constructive to post then don't bother, people like you really annoy me.

if a car went through behind you. then 99% chance it's his ticket.

That's what I thought, plus the time it took after I had gone through till when the flash went off made me think I was fine. The first one went and I must have been a good 70-100 yards clear of the stop line, so I kind of presumed that it was him that was done since he was in perfect sight of the camera at the time it went off, it's just the second flash and the apparent lack of another car that threw me.

You keep going on don't you?

You went through on AMBER, so there's no problem. What are you worrying about? Traffic light cameras are for people who jump the lights when they are red. RED, being the stop colour (the one at the top if you're colour blind).

People like you annoy me, cos it's people like you who fail to accept blame when they are in the wrong.

It's nothing to do with ego, son.

Anyway, it's your license. Up to you how you drive.

Why are you contradicting yourself now?

My question is answered now, thanks. Go attempt to annoy someone else, as you're boring me now ALLI. Bet you're a typical middle or overtaking lane hogger.

Personally, I don't give a rats about how people judge my driving, I'm on the road every single day in everything from small cars, tracked vehicles and 44 tonnes of liquid being dragged behind me in an arctic, so I know the rules of the road and how to drive and I have experience to back me up. I knew I was in the right, I had anticipated the junction, yet you proceeded by telling me how I should have reacted or driven in the situation without knowing anything about it apart from what I had put in the post. Now call me weird or what you want, but to me, there's zero need for your comments, and they weren't constructive as they added nothing to the thread apart from making yourself look like a tool.

By Kidlington Airport are the worst, my dad got caught there. The trick is to drop it down a gear, approach them and look to the right to see if there are cars waiting. If there are cars there, expect to brake. If there isn't, floor it :D

Nothing at the junction, was completely free, was about 11 at night so no traffic.

There's no space in "miseducated".

:D

Anyway, call it quits now. Banter aside. Apologies for winding you up, but if you're forces you'll have had worse.

Oh I've had worse, what annoys me is people who just jump on a bandwagon and start slating someone who just wanted a simple and honest answer to something. As for winding up, I generally don't get it anymore as the people that work for me know better by now.

And if you're correcting spelling and grammar, there's a few mistakes from you on the previous page.

No, I'm in the Royal Signals for all my sins.

*fires up outlook to write Google an e-mail to complain that their spell checker doesn't know how to spell miseducated*

I hate people that tailgate. Especially if you drive something that has above average brakes and you slam on, poor Mr Focus behind won't stand a chance.
