How Much Bandwidth Do You Use In A Month?

Around 120g... but limit's at 12g so probably its gonna have to decrease now (got a friend who resets my account limit :D)

I've actually been monitoring mine since i've been looking to get a new isp and hopefully some maxdsl. Quite interesting to see actually.

July - 44Gb
June - 28Gb
May - 73Gb!!

Not a huge amout of that during on peak times at least. I work or game during the evening then leave downlaods and bt going over night and switch it off before work in the morning.

Even though i download everything i can think to want, i still only seem to use around 20GB/month.

Ive no idea why anyone could want to use more.

I upload a dozen or so of my favorite Linux distributions. It's typical for me to have 300 times the upload than I have download.

Why would you do that? I dont upload anything. I just download everything from my favourite news provider. Still doesnt seem to break 20GB. Then again i dont have any porn, i suppose that could mount up quickly :p

I like the distributions and because I see them as benefiting me by writing good, useful software I like to give back and help them distribute it at high speed.

What do you mean you download everything from your favorite news provider? You're downloading news?

News is just a generic name for NNTP providers, or newsgroup providers. Often used for the high speed distribution of binaries.

For me it just means that for a small monthly fee i dont have to bother with the aggro of peer to peer type programs or other unreliable alternatives.

What aggro? If I want to download a new distro I nab the torrent and in fifteen minutes I have it. There's nothing to it.

I have found all of the alternatives to not guarantee to use all my available bandwidth all of the time. Thus i cannot get things exactly when i want and know exactly how long they are going to take.

I often for example will want a 700MB file in 15 mins time, nothing seems to be able to 100% guarantee that, and for it to definately be exactly what i want, other than the news providers.

Anyway thats quite enough discussion on the subject. I will continue to not understand why anyone could wish to use more than around 30GB per month, even for reasons which wouldnt be able to be classed as 100% legal.

Do you not understand the reason why I would want to assist the developers distribute their work?

No, not really. I couldnt care less about it. I can see where your BW is going though, the average person here however, i assume does not do what you are doing, so must simply be downloading things for the sake of it :p

Fair enough. Now back to that topic. It must be around here somewhere... :)

Im the same as BillytheImpaler.
I use Ubuntu as my primary OS on my laptop, so i make sure i download every version they have of Ubuntu and seed them constantly. They gave me free software that i find useful, so im helping them by seeding. :)
