How much better is the Rift S compared to the OG Rift?

I have a Quest 2 and 2 OG Rifts, one as a nice little repair project (internal ribbon cable and external main cable)
But, mooching around the bay for more repair projects there seems to be a fair few Rift S's kicking about in need of some fun fixage.
So, has anyone had both an OG Rift and a Rift S, and how did the visuals compare.

By OG do you mean a CV1?
If so, then yes I owned a CV1 and replaced it with a Rift S. The Rift S was a good improvement on the CV1 and for me has only just been retired and replaced by a Quest Pro.

The only downside to the Rift S was the lousy built in audio. It sucks.
My solution was a pair of Koss KSC75s. Under £20z

How do you find the visuals between the Quest 2 and Civ 1?

It's basically the same. The Quest 2 has a little less SDE and slightly better colours. However, depending on the games you are playing and the card you are using to drive those games there is a chance that in some games the Rift S might look better than the Quest 2.

With the CV1 even if I crank up the visual settings as high as they'll go with a 3070 they're still not as good as the native Q2 in PCVR, but then the Q2 can also have the settings cranked up.
Plenty more SDE to stare at with the CV1 but the CV1 audio is still second to none.

What I mean is that the Rift S and Quest 2 are very similar in PCVR. So you already have an idea of what the visuals of the Rift s are going to be like.

I dunno, the Quest 2 was a big leap up from the Rift CV1, and I've got an Oculus Go which uses the same lenses and panel as the Rift S, and the resolution and SDE are nowhere near as good as the Quest 2.

A Rift S is better than the CV1 display wise as it has far less SDE, plus doesn't have the glare and awful mura of the original Rift. In most other respects it's a step backwards which is why I eventually went for an Index rather than a Rift S when upgrading three years ago.

I would definitely recommend a Quest 2 over a Rift S any day - better sound, better display, better controllers, and the ability to do standalone, wireless or wired PCVR. The only issue being it does need a decent graphics card to drive the extra resolution and handle the video encoding.

The blacks was far better on the CV1 than the rift s I soon moved on from the rifts horrible headset for me personally.
The only plus was the rift s was sharper.

I thought the rift s was quite a bit better than the cv1 because of much less godrays and inside out tracking. I actually preferred the dk2 to the cv1 because again much less godrays, iirc the lenses in the dk2 were aspheric compared to the fresnels of the cv1 and s.
