How much do you spend per month on your hobbies?

As a percentage of your take-home pay?

And what is that/are those hobbies?

What counts as hobbies?

Hard to say. Mine are outdoors. So a new EMTB will cost my 5k maybe 2025

Next year I'm buying a van for probably 15k. It'll be for hobbies.

Really hard to say!

Edit.
Forgot all my outdoor clothing.
It really adds up!

Edit 2.
What about hobby holidays? I'll be spending 3k on a solo holiday due to hobbies in 2024.

Must be 1000s a year on average.

Edit 3
Lego?

The issue is how you define hobbies vs any other discretionary spending!

Things I classify as hobbies.
Kayaking.
Walking.
Mountain biking.
Lego
3d design/printing
DnD
Plants (you can laugh but some of my plants are worth 100s)

Hobbies can get expansive

Spot the childless poster

(I hope I'm right)

Strictly speaking I don't have an income at the moment, but fuel to drive to Polzeath, ect walk and surf , been walking the moors from the house a lot and that is zero cost
My reading is free I suppose

I don't spend a lot most of the time, but then I splurge.
I guess I spend about £3k a year on hobby related stuff... roughly £300 a month... more than I had ever really considered what it would be.
Latest spend was a Varjo Aero VR at £1000

Does drinking sherry count?

My hobbies are pubbing, clubbing and DJ equipment. Still a bit of a party animal at 45 but I am enjoying the dance franchises e.g. Cream and Ministry of Sound that have stepped back up post-COVID.

Probably looking at £350/month against a take-home pay of £1400/month. £350 out of £1400 makes it 25% as per OP's query. Mortgage, bills and council tax add up to £680/month, so just under 50% of take-home. The rest is food bill, a few subscriptions (e.g. Spotify) and I'm over-paying my mortgage to get as much into the pot while my 10-year 2.79% fix has 3 years remaining.

I've not actually taken a detailed look at the cost of my hobby.
I race superbikes and have a few sponsors who help out when needed, but for the most part it's all out of my pockets.

Typical race weekend (once a month)
Entry fees £500 (includes test day)
Tyres £1200
Fuel van £120
Fuel bike £120
Food and drink £60
Sleep in a caravan so no accommodation costs.
So about £2000 give or take a hundred or two if I can get more life out of the tyres.

Naturally it's pretty much free if you ask the wife...the less she knows..

I would estimate maybe 2-4% on 40K, PC games/components, collectibles, D&D stuff, Crypto. Not a massive amount really. Half that if the wife’s asking.
