How much do you use your iPad?

My employers have setup a scheme whereby I could purchase an iPad 2 32GB Wifi as a salary deduction over 3 years. So for an amount that I wouldn't even notice a month it would almost be rude not to!

I may wait until March next year (unlikely though as I'm impatient!) to see if the iPad 3 surfaces, but I also wonder if I will use it that much. How many of you with smart phones continue to use the iPad after the initial honeymoon period? I've got a Galaxy S2 and I'm quite happy using that sat on the sofa for social, email and internet browsing etc. The wife may actually like the iPad though as she can't be bothered to turn her laptop on!

i think you'll find you do use it and for an amount you wont realise itll be worth it! especially if you wait for the ipad 3, high res goodness.

I still use mine everyday. Browsing the web is so much better than on a smartphone that it just doesn't compare.

I save loads of links via Twitter and Reeder (RSS App) and read later in Instapaper every night. I can't sit in front of a computer to read and the iPhone is too small so without the iPad I don't know what I'd do now! :p

I did wonder back before I bought one how useful it would be and I've since found that I use it more than anything else. Just for reference I have an iPhone 4S and a Macbook Pro.

Three years seems a long time to be locked into a contract through work though, as no doubt they will bring out others in future which may have features the current one doesn't.

Hmmm, I think the big problem I'm going to have is waiting until next March!

Yeah 3 years is a long time, it does mean it costs about £13 a month though. If I leave work in that time the remainder becomes payable. I'm not looking to go anywhere at the moment though! It's taken as a salary deduction so there is some tax benefit as well.

I use mine 10 times more than I ever thought I would. It gets more use than any other gadget and I have an iPhone, MBP and Windows PC as well. I use it to read books & pdfs at work as well as the occasional quick game, reading a book/magazine on the lav, browsing the net in the evenings playing music around the house, basically everything.

In fact since I got it the MBP has been relegated to doing little more than managing my media library, photo work and playing the occasional TV show/movie in the bedroom.

+1 on the "using it more than I thought" answer.

I have an iPhone 4 aswell which I hardly use when im home unless making/recieving calls. Thats the beauty of iMessages and the iCloud!

Having said that, with the rate products like this get upgraded, 3 years really is along time to have it unless your in a position to pay the remaining balance off.

I use mine a lot more than I thought I would. Great on the sofa and great on the train.

Glad I got the 3G version though. It makes all the difference for me.

Same here. Wouldn't be without it.

Use mine everyday.

Rarely take it out of the house but that's mainly because it's a wifi model.

I'd say I prefer to use it instead of my PC and Phone when at home. It's more enjoyable to browse the web on the sofa / in bed than on the phone with a smaller screen.

use it way way way more than i ever imagined, so useful in so many ways I hadnt imagined. Apple hit it out the park on the concept if you ask me

I've just had one through a scheme from work, I never thought I would use it so much, plus the 3G is really handy around the place

What's in it for your employer? We all know a company laptop is to encourage you to work from home for nothing, so is this iPad scheme an extension of that? The real genuis being that you foot the bill for it as well!

I'm not trying to be horrible so don't take it personally - this was honestly the first question that popped into my mind. It would be an absolute master stroke if a company could make its employees buy their own mobile devices. Between cloud services and the "consumerization" of IT the changes over the next 10-15 years are going to be pretty interesting to watch.
