How much do you value ?

I started off at £90 for a second hand 9800 pro and that was expensive but a bargain I told myself. Over time I have got worse I even convinced myself my X1900 XTX for £400 was a good deal

My limit was...

£150 when I bought my 9800 Pro for £165
£175 when I bought my X800 XL for £180 (+Zalman = £205!)
and now about £200 but I'm gonna end up spending £205 if I get an X1800 XT + Zalman!

:p

I buy the best I can afford. Unless I see something I really like and think is great value, in which case I might save up a bit more and get it.

Ive bought two new gpus the rest have been bought on the various forums about but the most i paid was £280 for a 6800ultra new when the going price was around £350

I think the most I've ever spent was about 300 for a x800xt about 18 months ago. It's served me well. More recently (yesterday actually) I ordered the 160 quid x1800xt. Should be here Monday. Hope its worth it. :) Anyway most of the time I usually go for the card that seems most bang for buck (yes I am a wuss).

most i ever spent was on a 7800GTX 256MB - cost me £311 including VAT... don't think i will ever spend over £300 now, just not worth paying that much considering new cards come out more quicker than before.

1. GeForce 6800LE 128MB - £170
2. GeForce 7800GTX 256MB- £311

My original budget for a graphics card was £100.

Then it went to £130.
Then it went to £140.
Then it went to £170 and tbh its saved me money!

If I bought £100 card over a year ago, it would suck now and I would hardly be able to play new games. I'm glad I forked out that extra £70 as it was well worth it and in a way has "saved" me money in the longrun.

Anything over £270ish is stupid imo.

:D

I just sell the gfx card at the right time making getting the new cards easier on the wallet.

sold my 7800 GT for 160 and got a 7900 GT for 40 quid more.

Its when you wait and loose loads..

If you had sold your x 2 3800 two weeks ago for example you would not have lost that much money on it.But because of the new cpus coming out a secondhand one will cost around 70 now! as they are only 100 quid new

I will sell my 7900 GTX when the times right and loose little money on the next gen cards when I come to upgrade.

timing is everything in pc upgrading I'm glad I got rid of my s939 mobo opty and ram when I lost little money on them.

I was without a pc for 2 weeks but it was worth it and my migration to conroe cost very little as the s939 stuff i had still could command high prices. :D

How much I spend on a new vidcards dictated by how much I can get for the old one. Generally speaking, If I spend £50-£100 plus my old card, then I'm happy, providing the performance justifies the cost.

my budget is just however much i can spend at the time

1st was the 5600 at £55
2nd was the 6800nu at £200
now its the 7600GT at £140 (+ £65 for the pci-e mobo)

the last 2 upgrades work out the same because of the mobo though

First ever comp had an uber graphics budget of £350, got a 5950u.
Then when i broke that, i spent £65 on a 6800xt 256 which i unlocked to ultra so that was a huge drop, then i spent £300 odd on my x1900xtx

will probably end up spending £600+ next time round on g80 sli :o

Know how that goes, i dont upgrade often but when i do i spend for perfomance, im a graphics whore love eye candy, such a **** for it. hate playing games knowing it could be better.

Wont be upgrading for another year. got my 1900XT, if like my old 9800 pro which i sold 2 months ago, should last me some time.

i dont get into the game of buying every 6 months just for marginal perfomance gains. or some features that takes game coders ages to impliment or know how to code well. next upgrade will be the system that way i'll remember the good days of the 1900xt and be chuffed with the perfmance increase ive spent all that dosh on

my budget 5 years ago used to be £30 which rose to £50 which then rose to £80 a year ago, then at christmas it rose to £150 then 2 months ago rose to £350 just depends how much money you have, if become a billionaire ill spend any amount on graphics

The GPU is the most expensive piece of equipment in your PC, other than obviously the CPU which have come down in price/performance ever since the arrival of the Opteron CPU's.

I would not like to spend more that £400 on the next Dx10 card, and for that I want the power of 2x7950's... preferably in a single card GPU :D

I hope the SLI, Crossfire, Triple play physics, fizzles out and we get back to sensible single GPU's...

Most i paid was £320 for a X800Pro at launch.

Now i won't pay more than £200, i think the top end come down in price way too quick, whats wrong with having them at a reasonable price but for longer.
