How much does a pint of beer cost where you live?

As a minimum wage flunky (don't feel sorry for me I am mortgage free long ago) I couldn't work an hour to pay for a couple of pints, exceptions when fam are visiting or visa versa or some mega location

Even at £2.63 I'll give Coors and Carling a miss

No idea what it costs these days

As the Last time i bought a pint of Guinness in a local pub was back in 2018 when it was either £5.35 or £5.50

I’d very much like to try that £1.86 pint. I reluctant to believe it’s worth the price!

As for Doom Bar, when I used to visit Cornwall in the late 90’s there was this amazing local ale that I couldn’t get enough of. It has since become awful in comparison and even at £2.10 I’d pass it up. Have to think hard if it was free tbh..

You can see why Wetherspoons absolutely destroys the competition. Plus in Edinburgh we have the Caley picture house which is rated as a top 10 Wetherspoons in the UK. The food is basic but you can get table service through the app and the prices make it worth while going out for 3-4 pints without breaking the bank. Would be 2-3x the price for the same beer / cider / mixer on George street.

How much better to people think on tap beer in a pub is? I've only gone to pubs very infrequently in my life. Like if you had the choice of getting a top draw craft ale in a can/bottle versus a pretty poor generic brand on tap?

There's no comparison.

Craft > Macro any day of the week. It would have to be a very poorly treated craft beer on tap to be worse than any normal macro beer.

But the craft would probably be over 2x the price. Especially of those prices in Wetherspoons. (But I'd happily pay that to avoid the usual clientele in there!)
