How much does it cost to run a turbo?

They compared sales of the 318i Sport to the ST220. The ST220 is exceptionally rare, the 318i is not.

Overall, though, Mondeo outsells 3 Series but only just.

Actually, I believe they compared sales of 3 series and Mondeo, no models mentioned.

They then went on to say that the new ST220 (or whatever) was made in smaller numbers than the Aston Martin DB9, thus making is a more 'exclusive' car to own.

you are right, the 3 series is a more 'common' car than the mondeo now :D

its a v6, and unfortunately a right pig to tune, lexus have locked the car down.

They said that about the 1UZ-FE a few years ago ;)

Ditch the ECU, run aftermarket management and I bet it could be quite the screamer...

even a £3000 supercharger conversion only gets you 30% more horsepower and a 0-60 of ~ 7 seconds.

Blowers usually only give around a 30% increase anyway. :)

What are you talking about hate, it is an inline 6 in the IS's.

edit - in fact it seems only the AS200 version used the 1G-FE 2l I6, with 160hp.
Another version, the RS200 used a tuned up 3S-GE making 210hp.

All the IS300's used a 2JZ-GE.

i admit my knowledge is from a year or so ago when i was looking at the IS200, and the forum was full of people saying it wasn't worth tuning.

If I was to buy one I would look for the altezza, tis got the BEAMS engine iirc - then drop the 3S-GTE into it ;)

I quite fancy a saloon and i like small big cars (if u get me). ...... So i want a small big car with a bit of pull but overly fast and a bit different to the usually graduate job lot. I know the IS200 is a bit common but i like and wouldnt mind the altezza one but not sure about imports

Small saloon, not a beemer, not too common. VW Bora? Looks nicer than a Golf or Passat, can be had with the 1.8 turbo in either 150 or 180bhp tune and isn't all that common.

I'm a big fan of the IS200 as well - lovely car, regardless of the performance figures.

Looked at the Bora V5, that is the car i am going to look at in the car supermarket today actually. I do like them. Been lookin on t'internet and they look awesome on Audi A8 style 18s. That is probably what i will buy or the Toledo V5 but that is quite ugly but depends on how cheap it is

I'd agree with Kingy and suggest an Octavia vRS. You should be able to get a pretty decent one (at least 2002) for that money, they go well, are comfortable and should give you enough space.

Hmm...Does anyone have any more info on the Lexus lump?

I6? V6?

If it's anything like the V8, it'll be massively overengineered and RIPE for forced induction and 8krpm ;)

PS: Just my luck they'll be made by daihatsu or something...

Supercharging them is quite common I believe.

whats the point in buying one with a BEAMS then throwing it out lol.

And why bother with a 3s-GTE when you can stick a 2JZ-GTE in there ;)

Just in case anyone is interested, I bought a black 51 Plate Clio 172 today for £4800.

I know its not what i was after to start with but test drove it loved it and pick it up tomorrow.

I am well under budget as well so going to buy myself a new watercooled conroe from this very shop.

I went for the bora last year, not regretted it one bit, got the 150bhp 1.8T, paid £5600 , they must be cheaper now, got the 18 inch alloys on it and had a remap.

i think they look nice, and the interior is very good to and the blue dash lights are gorgous.

If they look that nice why so many snazzy effects on the picture making it virtually impossible to tell what the paintwork actually looks like?
