I'm on a pre paid and over the last year i have noticed that i'm constantly topping it up, and it seems to be going faster than ever.

from the 12th of Nov to today i have put in £50 quid which works out to be 600 quid a year , and in a household of 2 with 2 T.V.s a Rig and a laptop, freezer fridge and a boiler. nothing out of the ordinary and certainly not excessive use of any appliance.

how does this seem to you lot?

the tariff is 14p KWh

We are paying about £600 a year for Gas & Elec. That's a flat of 3 with 4 tv's, 3 game consoles, few laptops fridge freezer etc etc

Was around £800 a year (all-electric flat) with:

2 people
42" plasma
1 gaming rig
1 laptop
Cat water fountain that is on 24/7

Averages about 20pcm when winter is taken into account.

I live alone and only really use the PC/lights/kettle/USB charging plug

£50/month direct debit, which hasn't needed adjusting in the three years we've been in this house. Don't know the unit cost

2 adults, 2 young children (5.5 & 2.5), oil fired heating.

14p / KWh sounds fairly high, but if you are on a pre-paid meter, that's probably why.

Though weren't they supposed to be changing it so Electric companies couldn't have much higher tariffs on pre-paid meters?

I would have to check but on contract I think I'm paying around 9p / KWh. Will update when I find out

10p per kwh. Rates have plummeted recently and some very good cooperative ones have been available on uswitch.

Spend about £70 a month though :(

£85 pm for 2 of us at the moment. I don't think we're actually using that much though - EDF try and average our your payments so they don't increase massively in the winter.

No gas and storage heaters suck.

Electric is £800 plus another £500 in gas. That's for two people living in a four bedroom house.

Apparently it works out a 11p/kW during the day and 6.4p/kW at night, with a 40p/day standing charge.

Its totally depends on what you heat/cook with as they are the common variables in electricity usage. if you have electric heating which isn't Economy7, it will cost approx 3 times more than an efficient gas boiler.

I have Gas CH (new boiler), Electric oven and Gas Hob. 2.5 Adults (Missus shares my room!) with 2 PC's in a 3 bed detached = £21/month (edit!)

Gas averages at £35/month, swinging from about £3 to £75.

Elec went up to £30/month when Coin-Mining, but at least the gas bill went down a little :D

I still miss the 8 years when we didnt get charged anything :( We fell off the grid and our meter didnt exist (on official records).

Read 45k kWh once it finally got sorted out and they could only charge us for one year - 5,625 kWh.

If I had realised it was going to take them 8 years to sort it I would have started a business at home which wouldn't be normally economical due to the electric use but would have been on free electric. :)

1980's semi, retro-insulated. Gas CH, electric oven, one room permanently heated with electrical heat cables.

In total, gas & electric costs us around £1000 per annum including a fairly regularly used hot tub. Use a fair bit more electric than gas.

£75 (DD) a month for both gas and electric, although we rarly have the heating on (Gas) as our flat is always pretty warm.

I do have a microserver running 24/7 though so electic is a bit higher than usual.

Bills every 3 months and this month we're £75 in credit...
